Trump's stance is surprising, not only because of his background in business, but because it would reverse 30+ years of U.S. trade policy. Instituting such a policy reversal would be a Herculean if not impossible task, requiring the eradication of the neoliberal economic orthodoxy ingrained in the DNA of Washington.

It is about darned time, someone stands up for America for a change.

Hooray Donald.

Draw a line in the sand Donald.

Draw it very clear. And stand up for working Americans.

Can the executive do that on his own?

It is important to remain Constitutional while getting what you want.

I think the congress would need to be involved if taxes are being raised.

My understanding of the current trade treaties is they have the equivalent of a suicide clause. If we pull out and decide to no longer honor them then our trading partners get to impose whatever levies on US goods they choose. We will have no say whatsoever. That means outgoing trade would screech to a halt. This would be a huge disaster.

Bush, wanting votes in Pennsylvania, imposed a tariff on steel. We were taken to an international court and lost. Our trading partners imposed punitive tariffs that were coordinated to hurt other areas Bush needed to carry. He quickly cancelled his tariff. We no longer have sovereign control over trade.

This is why I opposed fast track authority for Obama as he will not negotiate for a US advantage but will seek to hobble future US growth, power and profit.

Trade tariffs is the most likely means of forcing the US to halt the sale of guns.

“The Changan Ford Hangzhou Plant represents a US$760 million (RMB 4.9 billion) investment and is the sixth assembly plant producing Ford vehicles in China, increasing capacity for the automaker by 250,000 vehicles. With a new manufacturing base in eastern China, the Hangzhou plant will help Ford meet rapidly growing demand from customer across the country.

“This world-class facility will help us accelerate the delivery of high-quality, innovative products to our customers in China,” said Mark Fields, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company. “The new 3-row Edge demonstrates Ford’s commitment to producing quality, safe, fuel-efficient and smart vehicles.”

So the cars that Ford makes in China are sold to Chinese customers.

I agree it would be even better if we made the cars in the US and exported them to China, but the Chinese would probably not be able to afford the cars then.

So why is this bad?

Trump is an embarrassment. All he wants is some publicity. He doesn't want to really try and get elected.

Well...that might mean more jobs here, but just be ready for big time price inflation as well. Everything is going to cost more. The question is if the newly created domestic jobs would pay enough to offset the higher prices.

You do realize other countries outsource jobs here, what happens when they retaliate by pulling those jobs?

"Offshoring", not "Outsourcing"

Having ADP do your payroll is NOT the same as having your manufacturing done in China. Can't expect the morons at the Puffington Host to get that.

That is a stupid idea.

How about we lower the cost of doing business in America, not raising it?

This TTP/TPA Obama trade deal is a trojan horse. It’s disguised as “free trade” What It really allows is for Obama to flood the USA with unlimited number of immigrants and to destroy the rest of U.S industry...
http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/immigration/item/20710-obama-gop-trade-scheme-includes-unrestricted-immigration

It’s Obamatrade but also Obama Amnesty to all the 3rd world.

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2015/04/dick_morris_fast_track_could_lead_to_unlimited_immigration.html

This Fast track gives Obama power to make treaties that override U.S. laws. Soros wrote a book on how to do this. So these “conservative” Senators are voting to give Obama power to rewrite all U.S. laws because treaties override U.S. laws. It’s the destruction of the republic. Proof here :

The MBA’s employed by the multinational corporations are as big an existential threat to American citizenry as the CPUSA.

Always working to squeeze blood from a stone, these VULTURES are constantly looking to GYP the AMERICAN WORKER to maximize profit at the expense of NATIONAL SECURITY and OUR MANUFACTURING BASE.

Not to mention companies like ATT and American Express outsourcing Customer service to India and the Philippines.

Trump is standing up for the American Worker from a common sense perspective.

His voice this election cycle will be key.
