Michele Benson is a car person.
Cars, she said, have a bit of a soul and need to be respected.
So in 2007, when someone stole her 1976 Porsche 914 out of her driveway in Santa Cruz, it was akin to losing a loved one.
But eight years after the car was pilfered, she received a notice: A dealership in the central valley town of Oakdale had her car.
"It's a love story," said Benson, an entertainment photographer. "The car was definitely looking for me and somehow she found me."

Yeah, she's from Santa Cruz all right.
I had a 1975 914... if they’d called me I would have said “Sorry, wrong number.”
Cars have a bit of soul?
Nut case
I wonder how they found it.
Give it back. Let ‘em have it.
Read the whole thing. It was among ten cars they found on a farm.
I don’t think I’d bet the farm to keep a stolen car.
I remember these cars in high school. They were the cars teenagers bought just so they could say, "I drive a Porsche."
Kinda like the BMW 1600 series that I was guilty of owning.
It was fun, but a rust prone money sink. Those Beemers were funky too.
A true for the road american love story.. Reunited.
Like bourbon and water.. And some more bourbon .. HIC
Isn't that the one that was supposed to be a VW?
A Karman Ghia without the bondo.
Why are people hostile about her getting her car back?

Fer sure!
Big appetite for poorly cooled exhaust valves, and transaxle pinion gears.
.
Lesson noted:
A liberal will credit a CAR for benevolent actions before thinking of the free-enterprise-system’s auto dealership or the police.
Hope it tells her next time it’s stolen where it is.
.
They shared an engine with the VW 412, but that was all.
.
I don’t know. My comment was directed at the people who owned the farm and had the stolen car when it was found.
In Europe, it was called a “VW-Porsche”.
