Here’s some seriously bad news for lovers of man’s best friend.

A leading animal welfare researcher has claimed that the rise in global population will lead to real animals becoming the reserve of the extremely wealthy, meaning that the rest of us will turn to ‘robot dogs’ for companionship.

In Europe, pets were long associated with the aristocracy. So there is a lot of common man hatred of them. This amounts to sky high pet taxes, mandatory training, etc.

If I can buy a robo-pet that craps and pisses all over my house, barks at all hours so the neighbors call the cops on me, shreds my socks, shoes, and underwear, and spends hours a day shedding fluff on the couch or mooching crumbs in the kitchen, then I’d gladly replace the two worthless wastes of DNA my wife calls her “dogs.”

A pet robot would have more glitches than a laptop. Then NSA would reprogram it to Hastings-ize concervatives No, thanks.
