Tom Brady will be suspended by Goodell for role in DeflateGate, announcement next week
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS ^ | 5-8-2015 | Gary Myers

Tom Brady will be the highest profile player ever suspended in the 96-year history of the NFL.

Roger Goodell's decision is expected to be announced next week and it is no longer a matter of if the NFL commissioner will suspend Brady, but for how long he will suspend him.

In conversations I've had with several key sources who always have a good sense of what goes on at 345 Park Avenue, there is little doubt Goodell considers Brady's role in DeflateGate a serious violation.

The NFL is convinced, according to sources, that connecting all the dots of the evidence supplied by Wells leads to one conclusion:

Brady cheated.

Does joking about it in texts prove that they were a) actually doing it, and b) if they were deflating balls, do the texts prove that they were deflating them below legal levels?

If you are going to suspend him then the coach and owner deserve it also for creating such and environment.

Calm down Reno....seattle lost by trying to pass into the end zone...they had the game and threw it away (literally)...I am from New England and my last name just happens to be Brady...what I find most depressing is the ignorance of fans who look to hang a great consistent team IE; Patriots for dominating in an arena where every team tries to do the same....this is all BS and I will be laughing when we dominate again this upcoming season (Patriots) with who ever starts as QB...Garrafflo will be just fine within the system of the Pat’s...then Tom will finish every other team off and the “RATINGS” for every Patriots game will break one record after another.....everyone wants to be king of the hill...sorry folks the rings are in FOXBORO ...so piss off .

Ray Rice punched his wife in the face, on tape, and was arrested for it. Goodell wanted to suspend him for two games. Tom Brady, at the very worst, schemed with an equipment manager so he could throw slightly underinflated footballs and Goodell thinks Brady should sit for an entire season? I think much of this ‘reporting’ is wishful thinking and an attempt to pressure the NFL to take action when nobody actually close to the real decisionmakers is giving this serious consideration.

Remember, Bob Kraft will be very influential in deciding Goodell’s future as commissioner.

There’s only one thing less important than sports.

But it’s so unimportant, I forgot what it was.

OK, here's the handwriting on the wall, for the slow-witted in the group:

It's really not complicated. Somebody put deflated balls in the hands of the man who wanted them after the balls had been weighed. That means a nefarious practice was involved.

Oh ... and by the way ... Duh.

When you combine that with multiple teams in the league suspecting and reporting that’s what the Pats were doing, with the very “Deflator” the one who took the balls from the officials office into the locked restroom—and that the balls were significantly deflated after that point, you have a pretty good circumstantial case.

A circumstantial case is what just locked ex-Pat Aaron Hernandez away for life.

And NFL discipline has a significantly lower standard to be met than does a murder trial.

It’s good to see the stinking cheater Shady Brady totally disgraced.

This is sweet justice for the real sports fans. :)

If Brady deliberately cheated then what do you think should happen to him?

Since there is no concrete evidence with substantiating testimony from anyone, what should happen to him?

Unfortunately that's the narrative being promoted by the MSM, much the same as they did with Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown.

The NFL has to cover their asses by suspending a white guy for allegations that have never been proven in order to support the suspension of Ray Rice, the BLACK player accused of beating up his then fiancee...........

Ah, man, don’t even worry. I am just playing around.

I didn’t mean to come off actually confrontational or anything.

With all the serious stuff going on in this world, this particular topic is kind of light hearted to me.

No offense taken, no offense meant, just having a good time, and thank you for GJ duty btw.

"...If Brady deliberately cheated..."

That's just it. He didn't cheat. He had no hand in this obvious "sting" operation, and there is no proof that he did.

The NFL has worked for decades to eliminate the profit-damaging spectre of "a dynasty" from Legue lexicon. Dynasties hurt overall NFL profit, because they reinforce the (justifiable) appearance that there are teams out there with no chance at all of winning a Super Bowl, and that hurts market share in those cities.

Then along come Belichick and Brady and they dominate the League for over a decade, playing a total of six Super Bowls in 13 years (Brady missed one whole year with a knee injury). That's virtually a Super Bowl every-other year for now going on two decades, with no end in sight.

You think the NFL isn't p*ssed? After instituting free agency, the salary cap, and rules changes designed to thwart Belichick and the Patties, and they just keep winning Super Bowls while they make a joke of the AFC East and the League's efforts to contain their true, previously unheard-of greatness.

Enjoy it while it lasts, because you're seeing the last greatest football franchise of all time, and the League will never let it be repeated.

If they could shoot Tom Brady, they would.

It’s cheating. It’s the Patriots. And it is by no means the first time.

No. Both teams don’t play with the same balls. It’s cheating, plain and simple.

"Patriots also should be forced to forfeit their Super Bowl win and be banned from it for a few years."

There it is in a nutshell. Patriots Derangement Syndrome, in all its neo-liberal, hate-filled glory.

I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that league rules require cooperation with investigations. Obviously, if this were a criminal case, Brady wouldn’t have to cooperate, and they couldn’t punish him based on a civil-case burden of proof. But it’s not a criminal case. Whatever the rules are, Brady agreed to them. If the rules in fact required Brady to turn over the texts/phone, I’d give him a longer suspension, but indicate that the league may reduce it if he provides the texts/phone now and they exonerate him. Which they likely won’t. Makes Brady look worse, but that’s what he gets for not cooperating.
