The biggest danger of the organized attack on police is not that the officers will quit, because if they do you can hire replacements, but they will remain 'in place' and become immobile. In this case they will continue ot occupy authorized slots, but be ineffective. Incidentally, this type of standoff is how muslim "No Go" zones become established.
It’s not about winning or losing a race war. It’s about creating chaos to justify greater federal power. People are already using Baltimore as an excuse for the federal government to take over local policing.

If I were the police in Baltimore, New York or any other major city, I would certainly stand down. Let the losers kill each other.

Good question. What would happen if all the police decided to go on strike?
The sheriff in the Old West was to ensure the accused had their rights protected; he was protecting them from all of the townsfolk who knew how to handle crime (but sometimes got carried away, jumped to conclusions, etc.).
NJ already has the first; for a dense and populous state with a proportionate share of minorities we rarely have police shootings (of either the cops or the bad guys). The police in taxpayer areas protect those populations from the welfare hatcheries; on the hatcheries/reservations themselves law enforcement is non-existent (for example, Newark NJ had a record number of homocides without any violent police altercations with perps). Gibsmedats don’t pay for law enforcement, so they don’t get it.
