A+ for improvisation
D- for glove selection.
I saw that one time before, I don’t recall the circumstances.
The ball could have popped pretty easy.
looks like an out to me.....It’ll never show up in the stats or box scores.
How about this scenario? A batter hits a towering fly ball into deep center field. The center fielder sees it is going out of the park but jumps into the stands and snags the ball about three rows up.
Is it an out?
Or is it a home run?
Saw it. To bad it did not inspire the rest of team.
That was cool!
This could be the year for my Cubbies...
Home run.
The center fielder completely left the playing field.
I’m wondering why the runner on 2nd didn’t try to advance to 3rd. Maybe he couldn’t tell that the ball was stuck in the glove?
I am keeping my expectations managed. Hope for playoffs or at least a run into late September with a chance. Not sure they are ready to be a front runner. Extremely happy to see them back to respectability and worth watching. Very hopeful for the next few years.
The batter would be out. Any runners on base should be able to ‘tag-up’ and easily make it home. lol
Just be glad you’re not a Rangers fan.
Now how about this...
The center fielder sees the ball is leaving the park but at the last minute, tosses his glove straight up into the air. The glove stops the ball's flight and it drops right into the center fielder's hands.
Is that an out? Or still a home run?
That’s the kind of thing I love about baseball.
One of my favorites was a “little league home run” by Carlos Guillen when he was playing for Detroit. He struck out and the catcher threw to 1st to complete the out but overthrew the base which gave Guillen a chance at 2nd. The throw to 2nd was overthrown which sent Guillen to 3rd. The outfielder was still fumling the overthrow to second so Guillen took a chance at home and the throw home was late.
Another interesting moment was seeing outfielder Danny Worth pitch the final inning and get a flyout and two swinging strikeouts.
Yoenis Céspedes had a great day yesterday with a grand slam followed by a 2 run homer to get credit for 6 of 0 runs scored by the tigers.
Depends on where his body ends when the play is over. If he lands in the stands, with the ball and has to "re-enter" the playing field, it is a home run. If he "falls" back into the playing field in the effort to finish the play and maintains control of the ball, it's an out.
At different levels, outfielders have caught a ball and fallen over the fence in the process. It should be a home run.
Say that every year.... :) Well at least they are rarely boring.
Home run.......you can't throw your glove or your hat at the ball
This is what happens when you use too much FREDDIE BILETNIKOFF STICKUM on your glove.
