What the hell is it with Freepers thinking $1200 in loose cash is such a large amount of money? Many, many people deal in cash, not unusual at all. Just because someone might have several thousand dollars in cash they are suspect of doing something illegal?? Get a grip folks!
Well it would buy a few months worth of lunches at CFA for the fellow. Or it could be a bribe for one politician. Depends on how you measure large. What cynics these mortals be.
Really.
I carry $1.5K as a matter of course, and the equivalent hidden in my car or bag.
I travel a lot and there are still places in this world that demand cash (e.g., tow truck drivers, mechanic shops in BFE that fix tires, etc.)
We had to hire an attorney for a probate dispute. Cost us $14000 by the time it was done. Every time the attorney wanted money to continue I paid them in cash. I think the largest amount was $8k. The first time I took cash in in an envelope I told them I found it under the mattress. After that they expected cash and just laughed as they counted out the envelopes. lol
