Jennifer O'Neill Doctor Saves Baby's Life. 30 Years Later, the Favor Is Returned.

“It’s amazing to watch [my patients] all grow up, but to have one come back in your life, on a day you really need it — that’s really incredible,” Dr. Michael Shannon — here with Chris Trokey and other emergency workers — says of being rescued from a car crash by a grown-up preemie he saved long ago. (Photo: Chris Trokey/Facebook)

Thirty-plus years ago, San Clemente, Calif. doctor Michael Shannon worked tirelessly to keep a premature 3.2-pound baby alive after the boy was given a 50 percent chance of survival. Fast-forward to March 29, 2011 and that preemie, Chris Trokey, returned the favor. Now a firefighter-paramedic, Trokey helped rescue Shannon with the Jaws of Life from his burning SUV after the pediatrician was hit by a semi truck on Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point, Calif.

What a wonderful story. And at such a hopeful time in our Christian calendar!

This reminds me of the Reagan Library visit.

I noticed a lobby card for a movie about the secret service starring Ronald Reagan. I thought it was just the movie card because he starred in it. But next to the card was a plaque with the story of a young boy who watched the movie and it inspired him to become an SS Agent. That young boy grew up to save Reagan’s life during the Hinkley assassination attempt.

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9

Same goes for those who keep doing bad...

When we split up, my ex moved out of State with the kids and then set about the task of badmouthing me and alienating them - tore up letters from me and that they thought they were sending and did a lot of other stuff.

I actually considered doing the unthinkable, but prayer prevailed and I actually sent more child support than required and did all my duties with diligence.

Years later, both my children transitioned through my home in MS (they had been taken to NY) and developed relationships with me and my real wife (take that as you may). They now consider my current wife to be their Mom and have minimal contact with their mother. Even my ex's mother (who used to despise me) has opined that she wishes her daughter had ended up with someone like me (how things change in God's world!) instead of the losers/abusers she spent the past 30 years with.

I had despaired of having a real relationship with my children and some 14 years of patience and prayer and they came to me. If it's worth praying for, it's worth waiting for and He does answer prayers.
