The organization says dogs can help improve their owners physical and mental health, so theyre holding a dog-friendly event to celebrate National Walking Day.
Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, people can walk a dog or one can be provided at Warm Memorial Park. There will be music and prizes.
Leaders with the American Heart Association say inactive people can double their risk of heart disease, which is the number one killer of Americans. To combat that, they recommend everyone get 30 minutes of exercise five times a week. Dog owners are 50-percent more likely to fit that exercise into their schedules. Theyre also 70-percent less likely to have high blood pressure, more than two times less likely to have diabetes, and are 50-percent less likely to be depressed.
AHA experts say walking is the easiest form of exercise and has the lowest dropout rate. Its free and you can do it anywhere.

Doggie ping. I know that my health has deteriorated since my dog died.

My buddy is good for a 2 mile round-trip every evening.
I have 2 GSD puppies. I love them, spoil them, exercise them and have taken them to obedience school One is 1 1/2 year old male and one is a mix 8 mo. old female. I am very mad at them right now. ugg , first thing this morning they pulled up a blue fescue I just planted last week. This evening they dug up and played tug a war with my newly planted rhododendron. Last week was an azalea and before that a honey suckle. I thought they were all fenced in(my plants) but evidently not. Just spewing right now.!!!!
wrong word...venting not spewing I’ll get over it. Good thing I love them.
They say this as if it is breakiing news!
