Millbrae's Wonderful Chinese Restaurant has video footage that disputes one Yelper's written complaint.
According to Eater SF, a Yelp member from San Bruno named Dan W. wrote that Wonderful would not seat him and awarded the restaurant one star. The review, since removed, reportedly said, "It's not that classy of a place, but they wouldn't seat me."
The restaurant posted a video called "Lying Yelp Reviewer Caught by Wonderful Chinese Restaurant" to YouTube Monday showing the man entering the front door, lingering for just over 30 seconds, talking to no one, and leaving.
Wonderful also posted a response to Dan W. on its website with additional video footage. It concludes with a stern warning: "You are prohibited from returning to Wonderful. If we catch you, you will be arrested for trespassing."
However, that statement appears to be the views of owner Johnson Xue's computer-savvy son and not Xue himself. Johnson Xue told Ratter, "We are too busy I don't even go to Yelp sometimes, my son checks often though," he said. "If [Dan] comes here I will shake his hand and I will take care of his meal. What can I do to make this person happy? That is my philosophy."
Wonderful has 121 reviews on Yelp, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Yelp is an extortion racket. As this was in California, wonder if that guy might even work for Yelp.
But, but 30 seconds is an eternity in the age of instant gratification.

That happens a lot on Yelp and other similar “review” sites. There are lot of people out there with low self esteem who take unusual delight in anonymously posting reviews falsely ripping small businesses because they didn’t “pay attention to them” as if they were royalty. If the reviewer’s life is so small that they have time to post a complaint about their last cheap taco at Taco Bell, they should spend their time seeking free therapy online, instead.

I love the comments:
“Dan W. Youre a douche bag. No wonder no one would eat with you on that night you decided to pad your yelp stats with a fake review. Shame on you for picking on a family run business.”
Oh man, pork rice paste, haven’t had that since I moved to WV from South Florida 4 years ago. I miss it badly. Shrimp rice paste, too. And lordy do I miss char su bao. If anyone knows of an authentic dim sum place anywhere close to West Virginia, i.e., Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, for Pete’s sake, let me know.
