Is it legal in NY for a school to issue an "anonymous" survey to students asking about their family's gun ownership, access to firearms and other questions? This was given to my son today. I am furious about the intrusion, the manipulation of our children and the sliminess of how it was done. I am collecting information to formulate a response to the school. Anyone out there know if this kind of survey is even legal?
Interesting. Please report back to us on your findings.
Do you know whether they also survey the children about smoking, drug usage, alcohol usage, church habits, etc.?
Will you post the contact information for the school?
My experience in MA is that promises of anonymity are not reliable. That’s what makes this doubly upsetting.
lolol
QUESTION: Does anyone in your family own guns?
ANSWER: You wanna come over and find out??
lolololol
But I don't think a school child should be approached for ANYthing except ... "How much is one plus one"

The spying on parents by kids have begun; inform on your parents. See: “Swing Kids”
Don’t answer. If it’s anonymous, there won’t be any repercussions.

Get YOUR children out of the government indoctrination centers - NOW!
My oldest came home with a permission slip for attending a program called "PEERS". So I started investigating and although most of the content wasn't objectionable, some of it was... depending on who was discussing the subject with them. The program included an "anonymous" survey that the students would take before and after the program to gauge their response to it. They were going to fill out some vague information that would generate a number so they could match them up after the program and compare.
I learned all of this by talking directly with the staff who were in charge of executing the program. I asked for a copy of the blank survey so I could see the questions and did received the sample, apparently after they had already allowed my son to fill it out. I found out that those "vague" questions they asked were enough information to positively identify each kid... stuff like month born, first three letters of your mothers name, stuff like that. In fact, when I asked that they retract his survey and send it home with my son, guess what? It came home. Ask yourself how anonymous it was if they were able to identify it and find it that easily.
Do not trust this pit of liberal snakes with ANY information that you don't want your worst enemy to know.
I suggest you send a survey to each of the teachers and administrators at the school asking them very personal questions about their sexual habits. Make the survey so vivid that if it was posted here you would get a zot. When they complain tell them it is to ensure that none of them are pedophiles nor are they teaching based upon inappropriate standards. Send copies to the school board members too to ensure they would not be lenient on any cases uncovered.
I’d be happy if there were surveys of gun possession on the part of government workers who the people have never authorized to have guns. What business does the Social Security Agency or the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Agency have with GUNS?
Careful, they’ll trash your home and shoot your dog.
In order to clarify potential liability of the teacher and the school itself in their attempt to use an "anonymous" gun survey, the parents of school children, or their attorney, should provide a copy of the "Physician or Educator Qualifications and Liability Statement" to those educators and administrators. The Qualifications and Liability Statement provides for a signed acknowledgment that the educator has (or does not have) "a certification, license or formal training in Risk Management" and that the educator has (or has not) "reviewed applicable scientific literature pertaining to defensive gun use, safety, storage, and beneficial results of private firearms ownership."
Many people these days are now feeling like they have to lie to their doctors and other authority type figures and the government.
Why place YOUR children in an environment where they feel like like have to lie to their teachers or doctors or whoever?
Many years ago a doctor asked my wife about guns and she had to lie about it. I set up a meeting with the doctor, took him to lunch, and explained how inappropriate his questions were; and that he forced my wife to lie to him. He eventually agreed, and said he and his medical office would never ask those questions again.
But to a child? It is time to remove the child from that environment.
Nonsense. “Anonymous” surveys, especially if handwritten, can be used to elicit all kinds of private information - even from those who don’t respond. Especially from those who “don’t respond” and make a big noisy stink about it (prod the sheep, and see which ones snap back like camouflaged wolves).
Ok, so answer every question in full. That better?
I’d be surprised if it is illegal; a long time ago I told my children that our home is private and they shouldn’t discuss it at school. I basically told them at an early age that teachers are spies for the government.
