Don’t these people ever rest? Apple has released a pair of Yosemite security updates, as well as (one suspects) the very last iPhoto update before the Photos takeover next month. Are you ready for patch yesterday? Here it coms anyway…

Think iPhoto is history? It is, but not everyone will update to Apple’s new Photos app, which will ship with OS X 10.10.3, both current in beta.

In the meantime, Apple has release one (final?) iPhoto update that’s all about fixes and tweaks and no new features.

Hey Swordmaker, gotta question about desktop display themes.

I have not upgraded my home Mavericks system to Yosemite, for one simple reason -- I did that with two of the systems I tend at work and discovered I do not like the "flat" look of the Yosemite theme. It reminds me too much of the look of Windows 8.x and Windows Server 2012 R2, both of which sicken me every time I have to do work on them -- frankly I think they look like a bad dream about Windows 3.11.

I REALLY prefer the shading and slightly 3D look of the prior Mac desktop themes. Of course, I recognize that staying with Mavericks means I miss a lot of other useful and desirable features in later releases. I do upgrade my iPhone to the latest-and-greatest, so that's already converted over to the "flat-look" theme. But I really don't want to lose the beauty of the earlier Mac systems on my main desktop machine.

So, in Yosemite, is there any option within the OS itself (not a third-party add-on) to restore the look of the earlier systems? I'm talking in particular about icons, window buttons, all those little thingies... and if not, is there an acceptable third-party theme restorer? Thanks.
