Summary

While Apple's dividend has remained constant over the last four quarters, it value as a percent of earnings has fallen significantly. If Apple wants to keep the earlier ratios, then it will need to raise the dividends.

My estimate is that Apple is likely to raise the per share dividend to between 62 and 65 cents per share from the current 47 cents.

On the other hand, uncertainty about the upcoming Apple Watch launch might drive this figure down. A figure significantly over 65 cents would indicate great confidence in the viability of this new product.

This is the ultimate FUD clickbait article title. . . as the article does not reference any nefarious conduct by Apple at all and in fact is a serious consideration about Apple increasing their dividend on the next announcement of Quarterly results, while the implication of the headline absolutely implies some kind of evil wrong doing.

This article was published this morning, but when the mainstream news media got ahold of it this afternoon and started repeating the HEADLINE, Apple stock dropped by 1.25% in the hour before the market closed!

Another example of a CLICKBAIT article title that is not supported by the article itself. . . and this one did actual financial damage by implying evil intent to Apple in deciding the amount of the dividends the company pays. . . while the article is actually about Apple may be recalculating their dividend rate. Apple has been buying back stock as an alternate way of returning value to stockholders. The article is serious analysis, the title is FUD. — PING!
