Apple has released updates to its Safari web browser for OS X Yosemite, Mavericks, and Mountain Lion.

The release fixes a user interface inconsistency in Safari that allowed an attacker to misrepresent the URL. This issue was addressed through improved user interface consistency checks.

It also fixes multiple memory corruption issues that existed in WebKit. These issues were addressed through improved memory handling.

You can install the update from the Mac App Store.

Check for the current version under the Safari Menu/About Safari to see if you have already been updated.

For all practical purposes you are correct. These updates are part of the ongoing effort by Apple to keep it that way. Speaking for myself, of course, I really appreciate it!
