Mickey Kaus quits Daily Caller after Tucker Carlson pulls critical Fox News column

The blogger Mickey Kaus has quit his job at The Daily Caller after the conservative site's editor-in-chief, Tucker Carlson, pulled a critical column about Fox News from the site, Kaus told the On Media blog on Tuesday.

"It's pretty simple," Kaus said in an interview, "I wrote a piece attacking Fox for not being the opposition on immigration and amnesty -- for filling up the airwaves with reports on ISIS and terrorism, and not fulfilling their responsibility of being the opposition on amnesty and immigration.... I posted it at 6:30 in the morning. When I got up, Tucker had taken it down. He said, 'We can't trash Fox on the site. I work there.'"

I like Kaus. He is one of the few honest Liberals. He understand the devastation de facto open borders has caused the working class. Looks like Open Borders Murdoch is throwing his weight around and Fox News is no longer "Fair & Balanced". The network is nothing but the propaganda arm of the GOPe and Dauphin Bush.

Fox isn’t in opposition to amnesty because their news team reports the news. The same isn’t true for their commentators who talk about this incessantly.

Kaus was wrong.

It sounds like he was trying to dictate that FoxNews should go “on the attack” more aggressively, on the illegal immigration/border security issues.

I don’t disagree with his opposition to illegal immigration, but it is really not up to him to expect that FoxNews should carry all of the water on this issue.

I agree. This is exactly whats wrong with Journalism and News outfits today. Report the news as it is, without bias. Telling Fox they should advocate for a particular stance makes them MSNBC, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS et al.

Took The Daily Caller off my list. Carlson has a conflict and doesn’t want to lose any money. He couldn’t care less about anything else. I prefer the Liberal who has the balls to say what he thinks is right. All these squishes make me sick. I am so far “right”I have to look backwards to find Fox News.

I agree partly. I get upset with all the radical liberals who come there (as a contributor), and contribute nothing but the tired and lame leftist spew.

Most of the time, I just push the mute button. They never have anything newsworthy to say; just the same old tired spew.

Kaus is a schmuck. The Fox News Network has NO responsibility to report ANYTHING. The network
and its personnel are not idealogues. Their job is
to report the news, not make news or advocate national
policy. If you want to see the difference between news
coverage and what you and Kaus are advocating, go watch
MSNBC. How in the world you and Kaus can’t tell the difference is alarming.

...not fulfilling their responsibility of being the opposition on amnesty and immigration...

FOX does not claim to be the "opposition" on anything; they claim to be fair and balanced. You get to hear both (or all) sides of the topic in question, then YOU decide. Carlson's off the rails, I think.

don’t get me wrong, i enjoy seeing my view advocated for but the hypocrisy of the press to minimize or sweep under wrong doing of libs/dems makes my head explode cause i know if there was an R next to their name or they were Pro-Life, they’d get bludgeoned.

Have you ever watched Tucker on FoxNewsWeekend?

Every time he is on and he states his opinion, I’m usually surprised to find out how much it matches what I believe.

Tucker is there to report the news - and not be a propagandist.

And, since when is it BAD to protect your employer? I mean, why would you bite the hand that is feeding you?

Well, isn’t “Kaus” the originator of “The Daily Kaus” - which morphed into “Move On”.

And I’ve never heard anyone connected to MoveOn who was an “honest liberal”.

Sometimes it’s good to do some digging; it’s amazing what you find.

That about sums it up.

No network will take the anti-cheap-foreign-labor position.

A number of conservative sheeple will actually vociferously promote cheap foreign labor taking away American jobs,

having fallen for the canard that it’s about “free trade”.

It’s a deliberate agenda of impoverishing Americans and destroying the American economy, filling the unemployment/disability rolls with ex-working people.

To keep neocons parroting the free trade line, all the elites have to do is put liberals/communists out there as the pundits to be anti-cheap labor.

The ignorant neocons will then, in a knee-jerk reaction, jump on the idiot bandwagon and promote more H1B cheap labor into their own country !

He’s great on the Special Report panel too. I disagree with the premise that FOX doesn’t report on Illegal Immigration, THEY DO. Infinitely more than you will hear on any other new channel.

He is pissed that he can’t get FOX to shift their focus away from REPORTING world news events that reflect poorly on the President and his foreign policy. He obviously wants to see them EDITORALIZE everything they talk about so they will be seen as partisan mouthpieces, like his friends at MSNBC, among others.

Sorry, can't let that one slide.

Fox has no responsibility to be "the opposition on amnesty and immigration."

I might prefer it if they were, but they're a private for-profit company, not a subsidiary of Conservatism, Inc.

I see his point. But he should probably have had that discussion with his boss about putting him into that situation first.

I think you missed my point. He has a conflict of interest. With any conflict there are problems. He shouldn’t be the Head of the Daily Caller and also report the news for FOX. This statement, He said, ‘We can’t trash Fox on the site. I work there.’”, sums this all up for me.

Their job is to make money. Money over morals and what is good for our country happens all the time.
