Ryanair plans to offer flights between the US and Europe, for as low as $15 each way.
The low-cost European airline said that flights would be available between 14 European cities and 14 American cities.
European consumers want lower-cost travel to the USA and the same for Americans coming to Europe. We see it as a logical development in the European market, the airline said in a statement.
If the plan succeeds, if would secure Ryanair's reputation of the lowest-cost international airline.
However, it could take as long as half a decade for the first transatlantic flight to lift-off.
First, Ryanair needs to secure an aircraft that can manage the long trip. The company said that they are already in talks with manufacturers about purchasing such a carrier.
In order for this venture to succeed, Ryanair needs to attract both economical travellers, and a higher-paying business clientele.
Earlier this month, the airline announced that it was hoping to establish itself as a digital innovator.
They won’t even be able to cover fuel costs at that rate. I can only imagine how well the planes will be maintained...

who wants to fly on a plane that takes that long to take of regardless of price??/
It’s a gimmick, like the buses you see going up I-95 advertising $1 fares from DC to NY.
If you look at the fine print and do some digging, you’ll find out that there is exactly one $1 ticket per bus, which legally lets them advertise that rate, but is basically a hook to get people to try and book with them.
Exactly. While I'd be willing to put up with a lot to get those kinds of prices, I've flown Ryanair, and the subway in NYC is more comfortable.
Er, how much for inside the plane?
Must be Democrats.
“In six years, after the brownies and fairies build us a magical airplane, we’ll fly you across the Atlantic for $15.”
We all fly in a yellow aero plane, a yellow aero plane, a yellow aero plane.
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds....
Yeah. I’m thinking that must be for wheel-well space.
Before you get excited for the ‘cheap’ ticket....some hints about Ryanair.
First, that’s the basic ticket only....no fees or taxes included. You can figure the one-way ticket to be roughly $240 by the time you get fees and taxes into the deal.
Second, Ryanair is known for charging for everything else. You want a cup of water? You want a soda? You want a coffee? You want food for the flight? All of that will have a cost. You better bring along $15 just for water and drinks for the flight.
Third, that $15 probably only covers you...not your bags...so prepare to cough up $50 for each bag.
Fourth, to make this work and avoid the stupid Europe carbon tax....they will need to route you through Dublin or some Irish city...meaning a stop-over. Add three hours onto your flight for that stop-over.
Fifth, while Ryanair has great reliability....you get the impression of Greyhound or Trailways when traveling with them. They never utilize a major airport, so when they say NY City will be a destination...the real airport will be some thirty miles away from NY City. Don’t be surprised if it’s Teterboro Airport in New Jersey where they land.

Pay toilets on the planes.....charge $50 to get in..
A few JATOs could fix that.
No TSA groping for me. Evah again.
Badabing!
What will the taxes and fees wind up being?

Dress warmly, bring oxygen tank, regulator & face mask. There’s first class and coach. This is a Japanese sleeping compartment in baggage.
