They must have buried a lot of them alive. Total US casualties - killed and wounded - were under 4000 in Market Garden. (82nd about 1400 casualties, 101st about 2100).
So take the rest of the story with a grain of salt.

My uncle, whom I am named after, is buried in Margratten and a Dutch family has tended his grave since some time after March 1945. They are still there and they still appreciate what it cost the USA to recover their country...don't use a reporter's ignorance of specific units or battles to cast stones!
