DALLAS (AP) — The deaths of three people who developed a foodborne illness linked to some Blue Bell ice cream products has prompted the Texas icon’s first product recall in its 108-year history.

Five people, in all, developed listeriosis in Kansas after eating products from one production line at the Blue Bell creamery in Brenham, Texas, according to a statement Friday from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Is Blue Bell a unionized company? If so, that could explain the tainted products since union worker are notorious for sabotaging companies (see the GM plant in Lordstown, OH for one example among numerous others). If not, does Blue Bell hire criminal invaders? That's another plausible explanation for this. At the frozen food section of a store, a customer I spoke with attributed it to incompetency and dirtiness of illegal alien workers.

In any event, it will take a long time -- if ever -- for this Texas-based company to restore customer confidence.

That was my very first thought. I figured that they were having union problems.

Not to be confused with Blue Bunny ice cream from Iowa.

Dreadful. RIP.

It's sad because I always enjoyed their products. Here's the announcement on their webpage. It's not stretching things much to suspect hussein's involvement as well. His regime has undertaken a series of moves to destroy the Texas economy including last year's obola outbreak and the recent collapse of oil prices at the behest of his muzzie masters. The regime may be doing this to prop up Ben and Jerry's -- a far left outfit that makes a decidedly inferior product but supports hussein.

Their Homemade Vanilla is sooo delicious. It really does taste homemade. I’ve stopped eating ice cream while it’s Lent, so I hope they get this cleared up before Lent is over. I’ve been craving their ice cream.

It appears the killer ice cream was limited only to their novelty products. Nevertheless, if they do have unionized or criminal invaders working at their Brenham plant, that practice need to end immediately. It will take a clear repudiation of unions, illegals and the hussien regime for Blue Bell to restore its once-respected brand.

I just read the whole article and it says that only certain items are being recalled and it doesn’t include my Homemade Vanilla that I love so much. I hope they don’t remove it from the shelves before I can get my hands on one of the half gallons.

I was thinking the same thing-the Somalians who work at the Jennie-O plant here are known for their bad hygiene. Could just be spread by poor hygiene of the Blue Bell factory workers.

So sad to lose a loved one to tainted ice cream.

Pints and half gallons were not included in the recall. Nothing will stop my family from buying Blue Bell Ice Cream. That was also the opinion at work today.

you people can’t be serious about blue bell being good ice cream. its low end economy on the verge of having almost no taste. what we call premium these days, like ben and jerrys (which i wont buy because i dont support marxist owned companies), used to be just ice cream. now you have to buy premium just to get the regular kind. and, why do you think the premium cost like 5 bucks for a pint, and you can get like a gallon of the cheap ice cream for that. cause its awful.

Could you buy the ice cream ahead of time in anticipation of Lent being over? So you won’t miss out. I’m having a strawberry shake right now. :)

You could take a look at my FR profile. I have a joke about Bubba and Lent there.

Blue Bell is really good ice cream. Worth more than cheaper brands and more than Ben and Jerrys or whatever hoity toity brand you can name. We used to eat Gandy’s ice cream and thought it was great. After they left our market we compared years later with Blue Bell and there was no comparison.

If it hadn't happened in a group environment, the problem probably wouldn't have been discovered at some time, if at all.

I'm wondering if it could be storing and handling of the ice cream by the hospital.

...ben and jerrys (which i wont buy because i dont support marxist owned companies)

And that's precisely why this can be linked to the corrupt regime of hussien. Not only does forcing Blue Bell out of business hurt kill an iconic brand in Texas a state he hates) but it allows the commies at Ben and Jerry's to gain market share, thus channeling more funds to the DemonRATs.

I don’t know if it is unionized or not, but I went and got some at Publix a month ago. I went in really quick cuz I wanted to get home to the family. It was a surprise for the kids to have some ice cream. Well I grabbed the ice cream and a few other items. I paid and left. When I got home, my wife happy to see me grabbed the bag and started to go through it. Well my little treat ended up being 7.50 for the container that isn’t even really that big. She was grateful that I was surprising the kids but said I better pay attention to the prices. I have to agree with her on that. I was in a hurry and just grabbed as I went. Even I admit 7.50 for ice cream is ridiculous.

I agree. Blue Bell has an almost chemical taste. I grew up on Newport Creamery ice cream but unfortunately it is only sold locally(Rhode Island).
