NASA, or the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, saw the necessity of a wearable computer for astronauts while they conduct experiments or repairs. Even in space, high tech astronauts still use printed instruction guides to walk them through a task. The process is very tedious especially if theres an emergency that needs to be addressed immediately. Its either flip through a manual bound by metal rings or a phone call back to Earth for assistance.
San Francisco, California based firm, Osterhout Design Group was tapped by NASA to produce an augmented-reality shades that can project data on the lenses. Their aim is to actually design a system that can upload information, how-to points, guides and directions that can help the astronauts be more efficient around zero-gravity.
