The parts of American history that this president chooses to commemorate and what he says about them speaks volumes about his view of America and American history.
His America is not only unexceptional, it is perpetually and deeply racist, an overbearing world bully with no right to lecture the world about morality, democracy or freedom.
He reminded us over the weekend that despite any progress since then, "We just need to open our eyes, our ears and our hearts to know that this nation's racial history still casts its long shadow upon us." Or just look at the police department in Ferguson, Mo.?
To Obama, the White House is not the home of the leaders of the world's oldest democracy, but a structure built by slaves.

In 1965 one person died in Selma for improving U.S. civil rights. In 1865 680,000 died in Gettysburg so the U.S. could survive. What we’re looking at here is either a total lack of proportion or a flat out hatred for the U.S.

There were 43,690 total casualties at Gettysburg (killed, wounded and missing.)
The Battle of Gettysburg was in 1863, and estimates of the dead generally run 50-60K.
#BlackLivesMatter! Unless another black takes them! White lives are only for the use of expiation for the original sin of being born white! And to create a First World for People Of Color to come there to be oppressed!
Barack Obama badly needs to break out of his own White House. There is plenty of evidence of a profound lack of diversity of thought there, and it seems odd that one of the foremost proponents of diversity would forgo the benefits of same.
