A woman waiting for a bus was raped and left for dead in a savage attack described by detectives as attempted murder.

Ya I believe in England, Asian means Indian or Pakistani, as opposed to orientals. I understand the word oriental is verboten nowadays but wasn’t sure what other term to use to get the point across.
