When a black homeless man was shot dead by police on Skid Row on Sunday, the shooting was seen as yet another example of white policemen in the United States being too quick to reach for their guns.
But the full story behind the man's death and his remarkable life has emerged as something far more complex. The 39-year-old identified by police after his death as Charley Saturmin Robinet was actually using a fake identity, stolen from a Frenchman, to try and make a career in Hollywood.

To clarify the badly-written article, the guy stole a Frenchman's identity, came to the US, went to LA to 'act', took acting classes, robbed a bank to pay for the classes, got caught, got convicted, got released last year...and they only now know his real identity because the French said, "HEY! He's living over here!"...no word on the 'accomplice' that I noted...

My take:
There's a lesson in there about how easy it is to circumvent DHS 'lists' for wannabe terrorists without simply walking across the border...and, I also note sarcastically, they'll likely try to find more ways to penalized us citizens as a result.

What was the tipoff? That he didn’t surrender?

I know it doesn’t matter to the authors, but the cop who shot the guy was black.

I think the L.A. cops should travel to France and shoot that perp, too.

Move from News to Chat?
Really?
Whatever. Not as ‘newsworthy’ as all this Shrillary BS, I suppose.
Hey, terrorists: Go ahead and steal identities to come over here. Nobody cares.

Unbelievable, but Ok; I need a shot.

Yeah, I’d hope so.
I never believed all the initial hype. I think this story is FAR more informative and newsworthy than initial reports; mods don’t...

While some of the comments are pretty funny, I am still trying to find out why they shot him. I saw the video. It looked like he was lying on the ground. I think he was unarmed. He seemed to resist. But there were 6 or more cops standing around. Am I missing something? Since when is a stolen identity a death sentence? Did not look justified in the video, but again, I really don't know what happened.
