The Seinfeld regular, who played Jason Alexanders clueless boss Mr. Kruger on the hit sitcom, passed away over the weekend after suffering an undisclosed illness, according to news affiliate WLWT in his native Cincinnati, Ohio.
Von Bargen also appeared in multiple episodes of Malcolm in the Middle, Law & Order and NYPD Blue, and his movie credits included The Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, Amistad, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and Super Troopers, among others.
He made headlines in 2012 for a failed suicide attempt, which resulted in a gunshot wound to the head.

Probably could have used a better doctor.

Dang.
I remember reading about the suicide attempt. I thought he had already passed away.
May he rest in peace.

Very sad story. Apparently he was a diabetic and had multiple amputations. Became depressed and attempted suicide by handgun. Did not die and finished out his days in a care facility. RIP. He was great in both Seinfeld and O Brother, Where Art Thou?

He was great in "O' Brother Where Art Thou" as the evil incarnate devil pursuing the Soggy Bottom Boys. "The Law!? The Law is a human institution." That line always remind me of Obama.
