Katy Perry has launched an official 'left shark' costume inspired by one of the backing dancers from her Super Bowl halftime show, who became an overnight internet sensation when he appeared to forget his dance moves live on air. The 30-year-old singer, who was joined by backing dancers dressed as surfboards, palm trees and beach balls, as well as the now-infamous shark duo, for her rendition of California Girls and Teenage Dream at the NFL final in February, tweeted the news to her delighted followers on Monday evening, advising them to head to her online store and pick up one of the $129.99 onesies. Will “Left Shark” last long enough for Halloween?
Good for her. She is practicing capitalism and I think that is great. Keep it up.
I wonder if the “left shark” will make any money. It looks like just Katy “1%er” Perry will make money.
Is it the shark on her left or the audiences left?
Crazy....she didn’t invent left shark, the internets did.
Didn’t she send a cease and desist to (one of) the first guy to market “left shark” merchandise? So much for believing in capitalism, Katy.
I believe it's the shark on her left, or the one on the right in this picture:
I’m sure the popularity of Left Shark took Katy and company quite by surprise, especially after having her enter the stage on a giant glassy, cubistic sculpture of a lion. Did you see that Halftime monstrosity? It looked like the World’s Biggest Turd, now dipped in gold. The Lion got zero attention. The ‘left shark’ got all the attention, even more that Katy herself.
I’m pretty convinced that her PR group was behind the left shark thing from the start.
Whatever, as long as people are stupid enough to pay attention and money for it, then there will be people smart enough to make money off it.
He’s free to try and work the talk show circuit...
