Excellent, Fodda. Love these. Are you familiar with Leroy Shield who did the music for Hal Roach (Laurel and Hardy, Little Rascals et al). I have a CD somewhere of a modern group from Holland, named the Beau Hunks(after a Laurel/Hardy movie), they recreate in high fidelity the original music of Roy Shield. Worth a look.....err listen.
Ps spent 10 years in Bronx NY, parochial schools in the 50’s-60’s... hence the ‘Fodda’
Ping..

The Beau Hunks did two CDs of the “Little Rascals” music, and several others of Leroy Shield’s, Ferdie Grofé’s, and Raymond Scott’s music, and Paul Whiteman swing arrangments.
The orchestrations of the Leroy Shield stuff originated with Vince Giordano, who still plays them live in New York at “Iguana,” a couple of nights a week.
I like the R. Crumb artwork on the little rascals cd....reminds me of zap comix from the 60s-70s and the ‘Cheap Thrills’, Big Brother and the Holding company album cover.
R.Crumb also did music in the Shield style when he fronted the Cheap Suit Serenaders....more of a joke than the quality of Beau Hunks.
Lots of great music from a century ago. If you’re a fan you can’t go wrong with Dismues Virtual Talking Machine or Radio Dismuke. He also does a four hour live broadcast every New Year’s Eve and a few 6 hour marathons every year.
