It's been 11 days without a homicide in NYC, which police say is the longest stretch since the department starting tracking murder gap stats with computers in 1994. Because before computers, it was too hard to tabulate all the dead?

There's a Chicago site that's been tracking and breaking down the murders in the Windy City for a few years.
They took to task Chicago officials bragging about the drop in murders, pointing out that it's down so dramatically (for the same period last year) because of the weather: Last year was unseasonably warm, encouraging malefactors to get out and do what malefactors do, and there was a blizzard this year, dampening same from doing what they wanted to do.
