The Buffalo branch of the nation's oldest civil rights organization has asked elected officials to deny any future requests to attach the 13th president's name to places or things, citing his signing of the 1850 Fugitive Slave Act that allowed for the capture and return of runaway slaves.

What would happen in Buffalo got an NBA or MLB team and it was nicknamed the Mallards?
To: ConservativeStatement
The state of being perpetually offended has become nearly ubiquitous. It needs a name. I suggest “The Fillmore Syndrome”.

Back on January 7th, many of us were celebrating Millard Fillmore's 215th birthday. I raised a toast by my crackling fireplace - a glass of hot spiced mead - and said "Damn Millard, you were a fine, fine president."
Those people in Japan...they know. They know that Millard Fillmore was instrumental in bringing them into the modern world.

Wow -- that's a pretty tall order for the Buffalo chapter of the NAACP. I guess they're expecting a record label to change the name of the greatest live rock & roll album of all time:
And the dude all the way on the left has to come out and publicly state that he's officially offended by it, too.

Not enough things named “Al” or “Jesse.”

The NAACP is a bigoted, racist organization, and it’s long past time anyone gave a s-— what they say or think.

Is this really their biggest concern? Millard Fillmore trumps sky high school drop out rates or failure ratios? 75 percent of jailed are black and join the thousands who remain unemployed?

OK, I’ll name the proposed sewage treatment plant the Barack and Michelle Obama Sewage Treatment Plant instead of the Millard Fulmore Sewage Treatment Plant. Is that OK?

Millard Fillmore was the last Whig president. He compromised on slavery to govern from the center by signing this act. The people who believed that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights” all left the Whigs and formed the new party that was so radical that merely electing them to national office triggered a “refiner’s fire”, ultimately ending a holocaust against human dignity, and leaving the Whigs on the ash-heap of history.
A word to the wise.
