gmail takes huge files
Dropbox is great, but if you are scared of it, you can break the files into smaller PDFs or compress them into a lower resolution PDF and mail it that way.
It sounds to me that the problem is Yahoo, not Dropbox. Your files are above their max email size so they are recommending a cloud file sharing service.
Alternatively, you can get a free MediaFire account, upload your PDFs there, then simply send your recipient the download links.

Most e-mail services have size limits, although a few don’t. But even if your e-mail were not to have a size limit, the chances are ... that the receiving e-mail won’t take it, because of the size. So, it’s not only the sending e-mail that a problem, it’s the receiving one that’s the problem too.
And so, if either one (sending or receiving) has a problem, then you have to go outside of e-mail to do it.
The way you go outside of e-mail is that you load the file on some website, where you can provide a “link” to the receiver of your e-mail. That way, they go to the link and download it.
The website can be a service you get, which will then provide you with this ability, or you use your own website, which you might already have through your ISP (most of them give you web space).
The bottom line is, if your mail service won’t handle the size, you have to load it on a website to have the receiver pick it off there. And again, it’s just not “you” the sender who must accommodate the size, it’s the RECEIVER who must accommodate the size!

Get a storage site and then upload the files to that site. Give your recipient the user name and password to the site and they can download the files.
Do you have Acrobat Distiller? You can drop your PDF’s thru Distiller and it will compress your PDF’s to their smallest acceptable file size. You have to be somewhat savvy to use Distiller, but well worth it for Email.
In addition to all the other advice, if you created the PDFs by scanning them, make sure you didn’t scan them with a color setting turned on. Scanning in color greatly increases the byte size of a PDF. Black and white scans use fewer bytes.

What about making the files into a ZIP file?
ZIP compression programs have been in use since the first, ahem, animated GIFs were sent over BBS’s in the early 90’s, before the web.
