Did anybody else fail to receive the 01.6% raise on their S.S. check?
I dread it but I have to go to the S.S. office to see what's going on or rather to see what's not going on.
I suspect that raise went straight into Obama's stash.
I'm 69 years old and am betting that I will be 30 years older than the next oldest person in that waiting room.
SS pays one month in arrears. If your raise was effective 1 January, you won’t see that until the next month.
Did your Medicare premium go up also? Sometimes that happens and it basically eats the raise up. I think mine showed up last month. BTW I just looked at my own increase notice form and it should be there for you on check deposited Jan 2, 2015.
I’ve already gotten Jan and Feb checks. To the penny, exactly the same amount as every month last year.
If it were a medicare premium increase, it wouldn’t be that precise. That’s asking too much for a coincidence.
How can you get a check for February when the month hasn’t even over? Every check I get is for the previous month. You can check all this out online at SS if you sign up for it.
I receive my check on the second of the month. I know the check I got on Jan2, was for December but I also got the same on Feb 2, for the month of Jan..
Then you should sign up on SS to view your account and actually see what your benefit payments are and how they are calculated.
I got my increase and Medicare stayed the same. I am not a Dim by the way. I get mine the second Wed. of each month.

I already have that info plus S.S. sent me a notice, a month or so ago, showing me what my benefits would be in 2015. That showed a raise of 01.6%. The raise is simply not there.

..............................................................
I used to get mine on the fourth Wed. of the month, (B/Day on the 29th), then a couple of years ago, they sent me a notice that they were changing it to the second of the month. I don’t remember why they said they were changing the date or even if they told me why but change it they did, as promised.
At least you get SS.
Anyone 55 or under will probably never get a penny.
It is a big zero in my retirement planning. If it shows up, I will use it on travel or something...
Did you get the annual letter in December announcing the 1.7% increase?
Check here.
Maybe you can talk to a live person at SS. I know, not easy to get through, but the last time I called, the woman I talked to was very helpful.
My increase was eaten up by the increase in medicare. Really makes me mad since I never use it.
The 2015 “Your New Benefit Amount” SS notice I received included the following info:
Your (new) monthly amount (before deductions) is $n
The amount we deduct for Medicare insurance is $n
The amount we deduct for your Medicare prescription drug plan is $n
The amount we deduct for voluntary Fed Tax Withholding is $n
After we take any other deductions, you will receive $XXXXX on or about date
If you disagree with any of these amounts, YOU MUST WRITE TO US WITHIN 60 DAYS FROM DATE YOU RECEIVE THIS LETTER.
(Emphasis mine)

Check your records for this long multi-fold letter
Check that last “after any othetr deductions...” Carefully
I guarantee that you'll be the *only* English-speaking, US citizen in the waiting room.
My guess they’ve figured out how to bend what you’re thinking about when you’ll get the raise to screw you out of it for a month. They’re really good at that. They should be showing you what you’ll receive next month, hopefully.
My husband and I are around that age.
I agree...while it would be a nice addition to our income, neither of us are planning on it for anything.
From a different perspective, same result.
In our Pension Planning, it projects your SS payment.
Running the same model in January as I had in November, the SS projections were $43 per month less.
I have not yet determined the reason.
