Today my sister's hours were cut yesterday.
Ninety days ago, my sister was hired to work in the kitchen at a Whole Foods store in the Portland, OR area. This was an entry level position that she thought might open the door for her to work some day in a restaurant kitchen.
She worked hard, filled in for sick employees, trained new employees, mastered the kitchen equipment, and recipes. Yesterday, when the new schedules were issued, her hours were cut from 40 to 25. This came as a shock with no fore warning. When she questioned her manager she was told that there are no 40-hour positions being hired anymore. The reason she was working those hours is because companies are exempt from ACA in the first 90 days of a new hires employment. She had reached that threshold. As a side, she was also told that the reason the kitchen had come up short-handed so often is because they had run out of part-time employees to call in to work and had no employees with less than 90 days service to fill-in. So both the business and the employees are suffering.
Both shocked and disappointed, she knows exactly who's to blame: Obama, Nancy, and Harry. Multiply this across all the whole Foods out there and all the other businesses doing the same thing. Well, you get the picture. This is our modern economy.
Oops on the opening, her hours were cut YESTERDAY!
And yesterday my hours were cut today.
I tried so hard!
I think that's what happens tomorrow.
Whole Foods is about as liberal as they come. Now they’re getting hurt by the one they gave all the contributions to.
And the libs would blame them for being selfish capitalists. No one wins.
Whole Foods spoke out against the ACA and warned this would happen if it was passed. The CEO and founder called it Fascism. Its not as left wing as you think, except for its clientele.

Yep. I’ve been dealing with this for two years, now. I’m that ‘Evil Manager’ that cuts back hours and lays people off, so my company can stay afloat and avoid The Death Penalty that is 0bamacare.

I will admit that in SOME cases, having to let go raging Libtards HAS been kind of pleasant; they weren’t great workers to begin with, which gave me an easy out. You get the picture. ;)

The majority of their clientele may be, but the top brass are corporately conservative. John Mackey went on record to call Obamacare “fascist”, which it is.
Obamacare has never been about health care; it’s about complete control of every individual’s life. When you are permitted to exist, when you are required to die. The massive damage to the American economy and jobs is a secondary, albeit related, effect. Michelle Obama’s Food Nazism and Zero’s abortion at any time for any reason philosophy are supplementary pieces.

Bump I have a friend who has a daughter working in a whole foods out there.
It’s OK; we’ve all hit the “post” button, and then immediately performed a facepalm maneuver ;-)
If they are going to require this in the first place (which has been done now) then it should be a requirement for all employees ... whether they work 5 hours a week or 40 hours a week.

It’s one thing to be aware it’s happening and another when you are confronted with it as a personal experience. The most frustrating aspect is that none of our reps really cares about it. They are so out of touch it is pathetic.
