FARGO A 27-year-old man accused of driving a Zamboni while drunk at a high school hockey game had a blood-alcohol level of over three times the legal limit, police said.
A preliminary breath test showed that Steven James Anderson had a blood-alcohol level of 0.30 percent on Friday night, said Lt. Joel Vettel, a Fargo police spokesman. The limit in North Dakota is 0.08 percent.
( It doesn't say he was running in to the boards)
cripes...maybe being a Zamboni driver caused him to drink.
Sounds like a Worker’s Comp case.
If I had to listen to hockey game music I’d drink too.
Drunk Zamboni driver. Seen reports before and now I’m wondering if the Canadian comedy “Rent a Goalie” ever did an epi featuring such a scene.
getting so bad it may be illegal to have an open beer while operating your riding lawn mover.....dam nanny Naziis!!!
Nothing wrong with having a few beers while riding your horse.(I do cut my mare off after 3,she can be a mean drunk.)
It wasn’t a public road. In fact, it was within a private rink venue, right? Is there such a thing as a Zamboni License? Otherwise, how could they arrest him?
“The limit in North Dakota is 0.08 percent.”
The limit for what? Here’s what the statute says:
“A person may not drive or be in actual physical control of any vehicle upon a highway or upon public or private areas to which the public has a right of access for vehicular use in this state....”
So, unless he drove the Zamboni on some road that the public has right of access to, it appears to me that no crime was committed.
I would think a certain amount of alcohol consumption to be required of those who drive a Zamboni.
You are absolutely right. Only broke the rules about not drinking at work if they had any.
I am not condoning driving a Zamboni while drunk at a HS hockey game. But appears no law was broken.
Double that amount for anyone having to live in Fargo.
I’m of the same mind, he needs a lawyer - he was not on a road, public area etc....he was in a restricted with no access to public or private roadways etc.
yes
