Did you catch the misuse of the word "magnates" in the first paragraph. . . Confabulating oil companies into oil men? I was going to add (sic) when I posted the article but got side tracked and forgot.

I love Apple products and use them myself, but I agree with you. I am not a Grammar Nazi either. However, the author, Rene Ritchie, needs to repeat 5th grade English class.
