The Kingston Armory .22 LR Garand is a Small Caliber Replica of the Original
alloutdoor.com ^ | 01/22/2015 | Rob Reed

The rifle is built to replicate the original in look, feel, and heft. The heart of the design is a .22 caliber receiver based on the design of the Ruger 10/22, but made of steel, not aluminum. The receiver is housed in a stock and hand guards made from real American Walnut.

Problem is, where is the ammo?

Sounds like a novelty. Why would I want to lug around a 12 pound .22 rifle?

For a souped up 10-22 it sure is, but they will sell some.

I too have a great many manufacturing resources at my disposal.

One of the things you have to learn is just because you can make something doesn't mean you should.

It is somewhat of a novelty, as all replica firearms are to a certain extent.

At least you can still buy original Garands. My choice in a replica .22 rifle would be a GSG STG-44. Original Sturmgewehrs are NFA, exceedingly expensive, and rare. The replica at 10 pounds is actually slightly lighter than the original. Someone described it as a movie prop gun built around a .22 rifle. As such, it's fairly well done.

.22LR? Why not .22WMR?

What good is a Garand if you can't get your whole thumb in the action?

The “that is neat” geeks will buy them. I am sure we all have a buddy or buddette that buys every new “neat” thing that goes bang.

Realists will see that it is almost as cheap now to buy a real one and shoot Ruskie or Korean milsurplus 06 still sloshing around. I saw solid surplus Springfields for $999 in Cabellas this weekend (on sale). (My wife drug me to that overpriced temple of woodsy metrosexualism)....BUT

Real market, though still small, would be to familiarize tykes to the heft and feel of the M1 and M14/M1A for ultimate participation in competitive high power rifle.

The closer the controls and weight match the real deal, the better.

From nurseries across America little voices squeaking out....”This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.”

Oh, to live in that America once more.

Does it have an 8 round clip that ejects with an audible ping when the 8th round is fired? It’s not a Garand if it doesn’t.

Why would I want a .22 with the same weight as a Garand? That’s idiotic.

What good is a Garand if it doesn’t let the enemy know, “Hey I’m out of bullets!”?

That is freekin cool. I’ll have one before summer if available. I know, that’s a nutty price for a .22, but I have this Garand thing going on, several diff variations including one chambered in .308W. This is one for the collection

I guess it’s for the WWII collectors who already have the StG 44 in .22LR.
