Obama and Churchill – Why The Baloney Rejects The Grinder

Last Wednesday, President Obama gave his latest installment of the big lie – his State of the Union address. Saturday marked the 50th anniversary of the death of one of history's true giants – Winston Churchill. Obama would need stilts to achieve pygmy stature.

Could two democratically elected leaders provide more of a contrast? Churchill was in office for most of four decades before becoming Britain's wartime prime minister – including serving in the House of Commons, as Chancellor of the Exchequer, First Lord of the Admiralty (in both World Wars) and Colonial Secretary. Obama spent less than two years in the U.S. Senate and seven undistinguished years in the Illinois State Senate (where he voted "present" 129 times) before ascending on clouds of glory to the presidency.

Churchill is renowned for his eloquence. There are books of his quotes to fill a library. On granting him honorary U.S. citizenship, John F. Kennedy remarked that Churchill "mobilized the English language and sent it into battle. The incandescent quality of his words illuminated the courage of his countrymen." A prolific writer, he won a Nobel Prize for his history of the Second World War.

Obama doesn't even give good teleprompter. His speeches are redistributionist cliches strung together with racial resentment and distortions of American history.

Churchill had extensive military experience. A graduate of Sandhurst (Britain's West Point), he served in India and the Sudan, where he rode with the lancers in the charge at Omdurman – against Moslem insurgents, if memory serves. During the Great War, he was in the trenches, commanding the 6th Royal Scots Fusiliers.

He first achieved fame by escaping from a POW camp during the Boer War. Obama once got out a sand trap on the ninth hole and saw "Full Metal Jacket" four times.

Churchill led his nation in a world war. Obama will probably get us into one by facilitating Iran's nuclear program and his refusal to confront reality in the war on terrorism (words he can't even bring himself to say).

Churchill was a lifelong anti-communist (a conviction temporarily suspended during World War II). After the Bolshevik Revolution, he tried to get the allies to overthrow the Reds. (He spoke of the Germans transporting Lenin from Switzerland to Russia during the First World War in a sealed railroad car, "like a plague bacillus.") In his 1946 Fulton, Missouri speech, he warned of "an iron curtain" descending "across the continent from Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic."

When told that the British government was going to establish diplomatic relations with the USSR in the 1920s, Churchill growled: "Recognize bolshevism? You might as well legalize sodomy!" Obama enables the former and celebrates the latter. The cover story in the May 13, 2012 Newsweek dubbed him "The First Gay President."

All of his adult life, Obama has surrounded himself with communists, from his mentor Frank Marshall Davis to former Weather Underground leaders Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, to his one-time Green Energy Czar Van Jones, to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright (who once praised a leftist periodical for its "no-nonsense Marxism") . Now, the appeaser-in-chief is moving to reestablish diplomatic relations with Castro's Cuba (one of the last Stalinist states) without any quid pro quo – another love-offering to America's enemies.

Churchill was an ardent Zionist well before the founding of the state of Israel. He supported the Balfour Declaration and opposed the 1939 White Paper limiting Jewish immigration to Palestine. As Minister of the Colonies, he visited the once and future Israel in 1921, observing: "Anyone who has seen the work of the Jewish colonies (in Palestine) will be struck by the enormous productive results they have achieved," and once quipped: "You ought to let the Jews have Jerusalem. It was they who made it famous."

Barack Hussein Obama is perhaps the greatest tragedy to befall the Jews since the destruction of the Second Temple. He's trying to force Israel into a suicidal pact with the gentle folk of Hamas and Fatah. Every time Palestinian terrorists (Hamas and Fatah) kill more Jews, he calls for calm on both sides – as if Israel was doing anything but defending itself.

His hatred of Netanyahu borders on the pathological. When Boehner recently invited the Israeli Prime Minister to address the House of Representatives, Obama threw one of his hissy fits, letting it be known that Bibi would not be asked to stop at the White House. That must be a terrible blow for the Prime Minister. Now, the administration is threatening to retaliate against Bibi. Where Churchill was defiant, Obama is petulant.

Our president is a world-class crescent-kisser. He'll periodically tell us how it's his duty to defend Islam from scurrilous attacks. I must have missed that in Constitutional Law class.

In his State of the Union address – between striking Mussolini-like poses and lying about employment – the president disclosed that as part of the "partnership" between America and Islam (we buy their oil, they kill us), "I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear." Is it a stereotype if it's true?

Barack may have studied in a madrassa, but Winston experienced the business end of the scimitar. In "The River War," the future Prime Minister wrote: "How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries. Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous as hydrophobia in a dog," its effects include "improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce" and a "degraded sensualism that deprives this life of grace and refinement."

Churchill lived in the real world. Obama runs the religion-of-peace ride in Multicultural Land.

Churchill loved America. Obama loathes the nation he was twice elected to lead. From his rejection of American exceptionalism to equating the police shooting in Ferguson to ISIL's murder of captives (when speaking at the UN), the president is anti-Americanism incarnate.

Obama told businessmen, "You didn't make that." Churchill said. "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries."

Obama said "I think when you spread the wealth around (after it's been plundered) it's good for everybody." Churchill disclosed, "We contend that for a nation to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself by the handle."

Opposites repel. In one of his first acts as president, Obama had a bust of Churchill returned to the British government. As William F. Buckley once said to explain of an opponent's refusal to debate him, "Why does the baloney reject the grinder?"

I could not have said it better. Remember when Bamster sent the bust of Churchill back to the Brits? Barry did not want a daily reminder of what a failure he is as a man, father, leader, politician, and statesman. Barry's hate for the Brits was easy to see. History will record Bamster as the worst American POTUS, its most destructive to American authority, influence, and moral authority — and nearly half of America has no problem with this!

I respect the 1st amendment and all, but there should be a law against mentioning those two names in the same sentence...

Well stated, absolutely true. This is a great post, particularly for those of us who remember Sir Winston with a great deal of affection.

Great post, great column. Hard to believe some MSM comments were reported to have called SOTU of Churchillian stature. Must have meant Ward Churchill.

“Why does the baloney refuse the grinder?” was a Bill Buckley quote referring to Robert Kennedy refusing to come on Firing Line to debate Buckley. Nice piece.

Thanks for the ping, ML!

Excellent post, Massmike!
