ESPN Radio Overhauls Weekend Lineup (All Female Show)
All Access Music Group ^ | January 23, 2015 | Staff

ESPN AUDIO has revamped its weekend lineup. Among the changes are eight new shows, including the expansion of an existing podcast to a weekly radio show and the launch of a new show presented by the female-centric espnW website.

The new shows include "espnW PRESENTS: SPAIN AND PRIM" (noon-2p (ET) SATURDAYS) with SARAH SPAIN and PRIM SIRIPAPA

.....................................................

espnW Editor-in-Chief ALISON OVERHOLT said, “SPAIN AND PRIM is yet another extension of espnW’s increasingly successful cross-platform expansion, and one we began fostering with ESPN RADIO last year with our first show focused on domestic violence and the NFL’s reaction. SARAH and PRIM will be an engaging and knowledgeable pair that, like espnW, won’t be afraid to push the envelope every now and then.”

Call me a sexist but the only show I could tolerate with a female host was when the Olympic swimmer Amy Van Dyken (sp?) had a show on Fox Sports Radio with former MLBer Rob Dibble. There were female hosts on WFAN in NY when sports radio started and they were horrible. ESPN gong PC again. ESPNw is like the WNBA. The only reason it exists is subisidies from the male oriented versions.

They could put two trained chimps on in place of the two morons in the morning (the skinny, effeminate one and the fat, dumb one) and it would be an upgrade.

I think networks are realizing that more and more American women are turning into men anyway (all career, no kids), there is money to be made catering to and selling to them.

They are targeting the women that have no use for kids’ cereal commericals...

I enjoyed listening to Amy Lawrence (she’s on CBS Sports Radio). Other than that I cant think of any women broadcaster on radio that I like.

No, I will not call you sexist. I think it is stupid to have females on. Why can’t the men have something that is just theirs? And I don’t really care a bit for professional sports.

I would love to see MLB Network do an all-female show. Heidi Watney, Sam Ryan, and Lauren Shehadi are all attractive females who know what they’re talking about. Why re-run the same stuff over and over when you could draw some viewers with an idea like this?

I don't know; the very first voice ever heard on WFAn was a female, Suzyn Waldman, and she's quite good.

Would be okay if they were going to talk about women’s volleyball and the LPGA.

I swear I live in a hole in the ground and only come out once a year to see my shadow and go back to my hole... When I see sports on television with some bimbo on the sideline interviewing or discussing gameplay or officiating... I just don’t get it. I guess I am just a mysogynist... but I just don’t find any value in the practice of thrusting token vaginas onto the radio or sports commenting on male athletics. Then again, to me, if there is one thing worse than a screaming drunk sportsfan... it is a female shreiking drunk sports fan.
