So, this is a little ridiculous. I haven’t read the ordinance, but per the article the ban is public in/outdoor locations. It then goes on to say the ban applies to private bars, condos, businesses (privately owned!), and more. Not quite sure how that works.

The ordinance was coauthored by Democratic councilmembers LaToya Cantrell, a former “community organizer,” and Susan Guidry.

I think they're about to get run out of town!

And homosexuals have no legal or constitutional right to expose ANYONE to their disgusting lifestyle choices.

When does the ban start?

As long as they still let you puke on the sidewalk, it’s still New Orleans!

Claiming there is no “constitutional right” to smoke, the New Orleans City Council unanimously voted to outlaw smoking and electronic cigarettes in indoor and outdoor public places.

Somewhere along the lines our overlords decided that the constitution defined OUR rights and if something wasn't listed in there, too bad for us. They fundamentally misread it (intentionally or through stupidity) to justify a supreme state with the people relegated to serfs.

And as a result, breathing water vapor outside is now illegal NOLA.

That is a clear misinterpretation of Constitutional rights. We don't have, nor need a constitutional right to do anything. The Constitution regulates the government, not us.It enumerates many, but certainly not all, things that the government cannot deprive its citizens of. Free speech, freedom to assemble, freedom from search and siezure etc.

Another ducument mentions the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness and smoking would fall under the happiness clause I guess. If you thing that your government hasn't gotten out of hand....think again while you still have that right!!!

Interesting (and unsupported) assertion.
Smoking was legal and common when the Constitution was debated and adopted.

Abortion was not.

Certain "Natural Rights" were assumed, taken for granted and did not need to be mentioned or debated, just as the Bill of Rights.

Contracts were sacrosanct, as well as ownerships of One's self.

I do not recall any Constitutional Amendments attempting to do away with those. The Bill of Rights is not subject to Amendment.

Being able to smoke in a bar in New Orleans made it one of the last civilized cities in the US.

This law will be almost universally ignored, especially on Borboun St.

Apparently cigarette, cigar and pipe smoke were having an adverse impact on the city’s renown urine smell.
