Cameron wants to ban encryption – he can say goodbye to digital Britain

On Monday David Cameron managed a rare political treble: he proposed a policy that is draconian, stupid and economically destructive.

The prime minister made comments widely interpreted as proposing a ban on end-to-end encryption in messages – the technology that protects online communications, shopping, banking, personal data and more.

“[I]n our country, do we want to allow a means of communication between people which we cannot read?”, the prime minister asked rhetorically.

This is the thinking of a tyrant. A tyrant that knows his subjects hate him and are plotting to overthrow him.

...encryption is essential in today’s IT security world - it is the basic foundation to keep transmissions safe from prying eyes...this doesn’t mean that a replay attack could not occur...but to get rid of it for good is just stupid...again....another leader that is talking about a subject they know nothing about and is will screw everyone in the process!

Thankfully the next general election is 7 May 2015.

If it wasn’t for Farage and UKIP, this loonball would be our best choice.

PM David Cameron warned over TV debate stance
The Prime Minister will refuse to take part in TV election debates which do not include the leader of the Greens, the BBC has been told.

He has also told his allies that he would be happy to see no debates at all during the election campaign itself.

“The right of the people to be secure in their... papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizure”

We enshrined the notion of data security shortly after revolting against British rule - for good reason. They still haven’t gotten the message.

Unfortunately the NSA has given the world a very different message about the American state’s attitude to data security.

It’s the same as that of the British state. Both are in sharp conflict with the traditions of the British and American people.

I see the brain of Britain has spewed forth more pearls of wisdom.
Have had the misfortune to meet him, the only thing he`s in touch with are the insides of his shoes.

Financial services would love the idea of back doors and intentional vulnerabilities being put in. Because we’re sure only government types would ever use that, criminals would never discover them.... :-/ Yes satire. The proposal would kill e commerce....

I disagree with "rare" here. Most draconian policies are stupid and economically destructive in the end.

And draconian policies are by no means rare.

I continue to be amazed at just how bad Cameron is. He is the UK’s ultimate GOPe equivalent.

This is what happens when you let career politicians with Social Science degrees try to play with technology.

...another leader that is talking about a subject they know nothing about and is will screw everyone in the process!

All done in the name of politicianistic, self-righteous, look-what-I-did, feel-goodism that does nobody any good except for the legislator passing their turd of the day upon the people's dinner plate...

The American people need to take away their means of passing every law that pops into their brain-deficient skulls. Government of the people, by the people and for the people was not meant to be a perk-filled cash cow fashioned to enrich the elected, but to serve its electorate and manage the country in a proper and responsible manner.

This hearkens back to the famous quote by Benjamin Franklin that people “would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security.”

We cannot have freedom of thought or speech without the means to communicate in private.

If the Fabian Socialist elites had not had a policy to dilute and replace the UK indigenous peoples with Muslim immigrants, the UK government would not have to worry about having locally grown jihadists in its midst.
