The Clark County Republican Party is expected to vote at its next meeting on whether to censure U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas.
If passed, the move could mean Herrera Beutler would be banned from speaking at any campaign events sponsored by the Clark County GOP or from being featured in any of the local partys literature.
In part, the motion reads: Please understand, we receive no satisfaction from disciplining one of our own. However, silence is acceptance, and we cannot accept your poor voting record; therefore, we cannot remain silent. We hope this will cause you to reflect upon your actions, and we look forward to the day when our differences have been reconciled that we may repeal this censure from your record.
The motion for consideration to censure Herrera Beutler was introduced Thursday during a meeting of the local partys precinct committee officers. PCO Joseph Wagner was the one to introduce the motion, and it was approved 59-49.
The party is expected to discuss the motion at its next meeting, likely in March.

interesting
Rumor has it this talk is spreading to other districts... are you listening Mr. Newhouse?
Herrera Beutler is good on life issues but otherwise is a squish backbencher, afraid to speak out. She is a dead fish floating downstream. On the ballot she definitely was the lesser of the evils.
Good for the Clark County Republicans. I live in Whatcom county. WA state has one of the most left wing Republican congressional caucus in the nation.
Not sure I heard of Herrera Beutler before this.
Her C.R. score is below Boehner, Majority Leader McCarthy, and GOP Conference Chair McMorris Rodgers - and all three of them are rated “F”!
Reichert used to be my Congressman before he got re-districted, and he's ranked below Herrera Beutler.
To be fair, Reichert could never have been elected in the Bellevue Congressional District if he was a Conservative.
Our new Congressman, Democrat Adam Smith (how's that for irony!) got almost 75% of the vote in 2012 and 2014.
Did you read the many Comments that followed the article in “The Columbian?”
About 3-1 or 4-1 Progressive versus Conservative.
Even though many of the Democrat Commenters are well informed and articulate, they have ZERO understanding of the huge and growing schism between Conservatives and center-left Republicans.
Yes, and the ones that weren't progressives were squishy middle fence sitters. They think they are electing a fair thinker instead of a right wing kook. But it is that mindset that will lead us into the same condition as France is in.
It is that mind set that will open our borders, crush our economy and have our children living on their knees because it is the right thing to do.
