Good morning.

I’m reading a book about the moral decline of the US. Truly, I’m rapidly losing hope that we can turn this country around. Our constitution was written for a moral people. I’m failing to see how we can even make it work anymore until we as a nation turn back to God.

You are so right! Our culture is saturating our children with images through the media that are de-sensitizing them. We rarely watch network tv. Instead, we choose to watch shows like “love it or list it” or, “Property Brothers”, or “Alaska, the Last Frontier”, or “Mountain Men” or Duck Dynasty on the Roku. No commercials. So many commercials, about the most mundane products, have subtle sexual overtones. And then there’s the incessant viagra and cialis commercials. When we visit relatives, they have on the usual CBS or ABC shows and, invariably, there are sexual situations.

Yes, our Constitution is written for a moral people. Our Founding Fathers were very wise men. It was John Adams who stated: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

And Alexis de Toqueville stated “America will cease to be great, when she ceases to be good.” Sadly, we are there.

Couldn’t agree more.

And you’re right about the commercials. I let my little girl watch reruns of the Walton’s and Little House on the Prairie on the Hallmark channel.....the commercials for stupid, everyday things have gotten downright vulgar. What a sad state.

The John Adams quote was spot on. I was going to quote it in my earlier post but couldn’t remember which of the Founders said it.

Good morning n’@!

We had a two hour delay...so I went back to sleep :-p

Roads out here pretty bad. Welcome to winter!

I watched some Fox last night...and the consensus was pretty much “oh those wacky TEAPARTIERS and their Louie Goehmert...” They kept saying Boehner was going to Speaker again (despite the efforts of the “far right.”). The fix is always in.

I’m curious to see how Tim Murphy votes. I called his office to ASK who he was going to vote for and I was asked (in a round about way) why I was asking. WORD GAMES. I (politely) said I hoped that Murphy would support Goehmert as change in DC was needed and keeping the same leadership did not amount to change.

Meh...same old same old. But I’ll be watching to see what committee appointments Murphy “gets” if he does infact support Boehner.

I agree w/your TV assessments as well. We have sports on pretty much round the clock and I DESPISE the viagara cialis ads...and while I’m ranting, there is a (I kid not) a toe nail fungus ad (script in purple w/yucky golden colored fungus cartoon) that runs incessantly on Fox, on Root, on ESPN...

Yinz be careful out there...the roads are slippy!

Oh I SOOOOOOOOO wanted to sleep in today!

No delays for schools around here, but as I look out my office window, I see that it is snowing pretty steadily. We will end up with several inches at this rate.

I sent several e-mails to my rep - Bill Shuster. I don’t know who he is backing. I’m betting it’s Boehner.

Well Good morning a day late!

Busy in the mornings at home again for a few days. Will post when I can.

BIG disappointment in the House as Boehner retains speakership. Not totally unexpected though. Too many RINOs.

Payback for opposing him has already started.

At least the PA Farm Show starts this week. Live on PNC channel starting Saturday. Opening of the food court is Friday.

Not sure what to make of the State Legislature. It was disgusting watching Corbett and Wolfe sitting together like old chums!

Hope everyone is warm and not having too much trouble on the roads. A few more COLD days then we should warm up and be seasonal through the end of the month. A few warm days look to be ahead as well.

~ 73 DAYS TILL SPRING! WOO-HOO!

Oh, I almost forgot.

Did you see the story about an Indiana County woman suing the police? Sounds fishy to me but who knows.

WOMAN SUES POLICE OFFICER, BOROUGH ALLEGING ABUSE
Indiana woman claims officer assaulted her during traffic stop

1/6/2015

AnIndianawoman has filed a federal lawsuit against Indiana Borough and one of its police officers, accusing the officer of assaulting her during a traffic stop in November of 2013.

24-year-old Karissa Smith claims in the suit filed in U.S. District Court that her constitutional and civil rights were violated by Officer Scott Schuller, that she suffered numerous scrapes and bruises and a chipped tooth, and that she suffered psychological trauma. She also says she was forced to spend a night in jail, and contends that the borough knew about the incident and failed to discipline Schuller. The suit says Schuller’s behavior was “aggressive, violent, aberrant and unconstitutional…” and “did nothing to protect the public.”

Smith was pulled over on the evening of November 1st, 2013, driving her father’s van with an expired California registration. She claims Schuller pulled her out of the van and after she asked to call her father, he struck her multiple times in the thighs with his flashlight, causing her to fall to her knees. She says she chipped her tooth when Schuller “slammed her face to the pavement.”

Smith was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, simple assault, obstruction of justice, having no rear lights, failure to yield, operating without insurance and operating without required registration, but District Attorney Pat Dougherty withdrew all charges before her preliminary hearing.

The suit seeks more than $500,000 in compensatory and punitive damages, plus legal fees. Indiana Borough has not responded to the lawsuit.

Morning! Yep, I’ve been hearing about the woman who is suing the borough! Don’t know what to make of it. I don’t know the officer OR the woman. IMHO, it sounds like she’s taking advantage of the current climate against the police! Why wait until now to file a lawsuit? I wonder why the DA withdrew all charges? That would have been done around the time of the crime.

Our house - old as it is - is quite comfy. I’m happy we got the new furnace a couple years ago! Mr S and I both got new boots in November, and I got a much-needed new coat!
Can’t wait for spring. We’ve already been checking seed displays at Lowes! Also got several seed catalogs!

Thanks for the info about the Farm Show! I loved the sheep
-shearing last year! That was really interesting to watch!

I’d better get todays thread started!
