New diet guidelines might reflect environment cost (Meat=Globalwarming)

WASHINGTON (AP) — For years, the government has been issuing guidelines about healthy eating choices. Now, a panel that advises the Agriculture Department is ready to recommend that you be told not only what foods are better for your own health, but for the environment as well.

That means that when the latest version of the government's dietary guidelines comes out, it may push even harder than it has in recent years for people to choose more fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains and other plant-based foods — at the expense of meat.

"We need to make sure our diets are in alignment with our natural resources and the need to reduce climate change," said Kari Hamerschlag of the advocacy group Friends of the Earth.

"You don't want to recommend a diet that is going to poison the planet," he said.

This is what Marxism is, being in control of every aspect of your life through lies, deceit and misinformation.

make sure our diets are in alignment with our natural resources

I do my best to do this; which is why I put as much game into my family’s diet as I can.

I’m sure Baraq and MooseChelle will lead the way both with the new WH chef and the staff at Sidwell Friends.

More carbohydrates (sugars) will lead to a higher rate of obesity. The food pyramid has been a lie for years. People know this now, and the lefties pushing this crap can go burn in hellfire.

According to K. Seaton (know nothing about him but this is from an excerpt in a cookbook), “Vegetarians, particularly vegans, may experience a deficiency (in Vitamin B12 from animal products) with insidious neurological damage occurring before it is noticed.”

I think that explains a great deal of their insane beliefs. Your brain needs meat to function well.

And then turn around and wonder why there are so many diabetics.

A sizeable portion (25%, I think) of the brain is electrically conductive fat/wax/lipids! Not only that, it is the most power-intensive organ in the body!

Obviously, you would need a lot of energy to maintain adequate mental function. The best energy source: heat-stable ANIMAL fats.

It is the instability of vegetable fats in the presence of heat that contributes to heart disease: under heat, the chemical structure of plant fats changes from a cis bond to the dangerous trans bond: trans fats.

Now, whenever I make anything requiring a fat, I usually go for clarified lard (the clear stuff that sits on top of the white, solid layer upon settling), or plain butter.

True. Since I started cutting back on carbs, replacing it with adequate portions of vegetables, meats, and animal fats, my weight has all but stabilised.

I changed to the Paleo diet to reduce intake of preservatives and increase protein. Amazing transition in overall health.

This completely ignores that depending on who your people are and where they are from, you may be preceded by generations of people who thrived on a diet of primarily meat. Ignoring the successful dining habits of our ancestors is like feeding the great cats at the local zoo bamboo shoots instead of meat. Their digestive systems aren’t set up for that.

I avoid all vegetable oils but olive and coconut. My mom bought into the low fat, margarine and vegetable oil guidelines-both my brother and I had some odd health issues that were probably due to skim milk and no butter. She had a massive heart attack at 51-thankfully she survived! My dad had one about 10 years later and survived as well. I am taking a completely different approach to food-mostly from scratch and high fat dairy. We’ll see if this breaks the unfortunate family tradition.

I would love to find a non-hydrogenated lard, but there isn’t one in the stores here. Butter will have to suffice.

The new bottom of the food pyramid is silica, good ol silica is good for the planet and at they same time it won’t kill you if taken with the other food groups.
