But a Surface Pro tablet can be pricey...akin to a PC. Fortunately, there are many low-price, low power versions out there from Asus, Lenovo, HP and Dell....some under $200.

With the harmonization of Windows 10 onto phones, expect Microsoft to start adding market share in that area as well.

Everyone knew MS was unifying across all hardware. Write an app for one and it runs on all devices.

MS is way out ahead of Apple & Google on this.

Apple has no path to harmonizing iOS with OSX. Google is totally fragmented and incapable of bridging Chrome with Android.

Will MS triumph again, like it did in the PC wars?

Public acceptance/adoption will determine their fate.

Show's how little you know. iOS and OS X share many of the same apps and are able to keep perfectly in sync via iCloud, Continuity and Handoff. iTunes, iPhoto, Pages, Number, Keynote and any number of other apps exist in both spaces with complete interoperability and file compatibility.

iPads can cost as much as a PC. Really if the quality and usefulness is there people will buy it.

Not exactly true. While not sharing apps, Handoff allows you to start documents on an iPad or iPhone and complete them on a Mac and vice verse.

It is too bad MS can’t harmonize across its own OS generations. MS dumped support of Windows XP because nobody wanted Vista. Getting programs written for XP to run on 7 doesn’t happen so you are stuck in a world of virtual XP.

Clearly you are not a developer. iOS and OS X are very close. I can write code and deploy on iPad, iPhone, and Mac, often with almost no changes.
