Kinda wondering if anyone is planning on checking this show out tonight. The idea of them using the Orion drive is intriguing to me.

I probably can’t catch it tonight, but I do plan on a binge watch at some point.

I might check this out. As a kid, I was fascinated by stuff like Project Daedalus and Project Longshot as a kid (Orion was a bit before my time). That we could actually find a way to travel between star systems still gives me goosebumps.

I’ll probably watch. I saw the commercials and it certainly is a pretty original idea for a sci-fi show. I’m not sure how long they can stretch the premise out for though.

You know, in the 60’s we’d of been launching into an almost unknown void toward a likely lookin star that’s close. We’re advanced enough now that in a couple of decades we will be able to answer most of the questions about the star, planets and likely life on them.

I’m glad you posted this. My husband was curious about the show and asked me to DVR it. I’d forgotten all about it.

The problem with SyFy shows is they revert to Sharknado special effects which is funny stuff but sometimes I like some good old fashion true Sci-Fi

I'm watching it and will be recording the series.
It's just a take off mini-series from the original film called Elysium starring Matt Damon and Jodi Foster.....it sucked.

As a sci-fi nerd, I am going to watch it. I am counting the days when star trek comes back on TV... I would love to see a conservative libertarian crew...

There's an interesting National Geographic documentary video available on YouTube. I believe it's called "Escape from Earth". It's basically an hour-long thought problem of what humans would have to do in order to get a sizable population off the Earth before it got hit by a neutron star.
The only successful plan is an Orion-like ship.
It also fully discusses the social ramifications when the entire population learns the Earth is toast and only about 10,000 of them will get a ticket off the planet.

I am. Don’t have particularly hopes for it though.
On the other hand — it’s hard to get tired of looking at Tricia Helfer.
