Proposed legislation that would make it easier to change the gender on New York City birth certificates passed an important hurdle Friday.
The Council’s Health Committee unanimously approved the bill, paving the way for the full Council vote on Monday.
The legislation would let anyone change the gender on their birth certificate provided they have documentation from a broad list of providers — including doctors, nurses, and therapists — that they identify with a different gender.
Previously, the city required proof of surgery or procedures like hormone therapy to change a gender on a birth certificate.
"These measures will transform the lives of transgendered people," said Health Chair Corey Johnson.
Some 40% of transgendered people face discrimination because of documents that don’t match their new gender, according to the National Transgender Discrimination Survey.
Can they change place of birth, too?

If gender identity is fluid (which is what they argue), why even include sex information on birth certificates, job applications, or driver’s licenses?

Totally insane. You can’t possibly retroactively change the fact that someone was born with the features and chromosomes of one sex, and while they now seem to be able to change the features, more or less (but they can never change the hands or the wrists, the dead giveaway of a drag queen or “sex change” victim), they can never change the chromosomes. So that person still is a male or a female as listed on their birth certificate.
The only thing this is going to screw up is record keeping and identification of individuals. If they want to make a note on the bc that such and such a person has undergone surgery and now describes themselves as being of the opposite sex, fine; but you can’t change how they were born.

I’d like my birthday legally changed so that I am officially 70 years old. That way, I can collect the maximum Social Security benefit now instead of waiting many more years. I’ll scream age discrimination if they do not comply.

I think I’ve seen at least one case where they wanted to remove the father’s name and put the lesbian lover’s name.
Since the sixties the sexual revolution has been waged to introduce anarchy into the system.

And in the thriving mecca of Nueva York if one is an illegal alien they don’t need any steeeeeeeeenkin’ birth certificates. Their Dem voter registration card is their golden pass to all the goodies- no questions ‘aksed’.

Wait til they have an e-BC where you can access it online complete with active edit features. The city will charge their extortion fees to edit each item but you can make edits whenever you wish. Just pay the city their fees and voila... Magic results — for a price, you see. Corruptocrats would do it.
