Wow, this isn't even a blog pimp, even though it follows the standard tease formula.

Before you go in for biometrics, you should probably ask yourself: is trying to secure this really worth losing a finger over?

Which is why you need to set up your phone so that after a certain amount of minutes you need to enter a code in addition to your fingerprint to unlock the phone. This is simply a standard security measure.

Nasty little 7-year old! /sarc

Come on. Like we all haven’t seen movies back in the 70s and 80s where they chop off the guys’ finger - or hand - to use in a biometric security reader to open a restricted room or safe?

Whatever you do don’t use your thumb or pinky.
Those are the two most important ones.

I don’t like the whole idea of fingerprint scanners. I keep seeing the image of garden shears.

I do not believe it even required a clever seven year old; average should be able to think up that crime.

The best one IMO was on Demolition Man with Stallone and Snipes when Snipes put a guy’s eye on a rod for the retina scan.

Two comments:

1) Dad’s a heavy sleeper.
2) How is this different from the situation where a bad guy forces the vic to run around making withdrawals from different ATMs? The vic could be forced to make various charges on his account.. if his finger was left on his body.

Whatever you do don’t use your thumb or pinky.

If you don't they'll chop off all the others getting to the right one.......

So easy to defeat a fingerprint scanner as has been known since the 1980s:

Not a posting nazi. Just someone who is sick of baiting sites that claim “you won’t believe what happened next” only to send you to a page that forces you to click through pages of adverts just to see the thing. I like the new trend of posting a photo, then clicking next, and there is the same photo with a caption (and a page of adverts), then click next, and the same photo again, with an extra word on the caption.

Your tease ended right at the correct spot. I tend to think Free Republic is above the click-bait stuff, but lately. . .
