One of the best and most interesting films I’ve ever seen. The sound was a little over the top, to the point of making some of the dialogue difficult to follow, but other than that, I saw no flaws. This is a definite “must see again” movie, because there is a plot twist that makes you want to go back and re-watch parts of it in light of what you learn at the end.

I saw it in IMAX - if you do, sit far in the back. Sitting too close strained my eyes and I had to move.

Great photography and acting, special effects.

One thing I don’t like politically is the whole concept of enviro decline —that our gradual destruction is the product of everyday decisions of average people.

That’s false.

Good movie, though? Yes.

Don’t know if they’ll have an IMAX version, but this is one that was MADE for that, I believe.

This movie is “Space 2001” meets “Armageddon” but sans the rah-rah element so prominent in the latter.

I hate most movies these days and I did not hate this one.

They could have been a movie showing them building greenhouses.

Rotten Tomatoes gives Interstellar a 72 overall rating, which I take as mediocre. I'm skipping it for Big Hero 6, a cgi family film which garnered a 94 rating. One reviewer said of Big Hero 6 “It doesn't top The Incredibles, but doggone if it doesn't come close.” That's pretty high praise IMO

I've read two reviews at NRO, one very positive and one very negative. The first guy said it was in the tradition of really good science fiction like 2001. The other described it as insipid. Their drastically different opinions have me more curious about the film than the film itself. I wonder who's right.

21 Things in Interstellar That Don’t Make Sense"

1. The film implies that corn is the USA’s final crop. But if there's no wheat, where, exactly, does the beer that Matt McConaughey’s and John Lithgow’s characters drink come from?

Gadzooks! That is enough for me. No real possibility for beer... Not a chance in hell of me seeing this film even if Anne and Jessica get nakked together—

Hummm-- Together-- Well... on second thought--

I went last night. I think I missed about the first 5 minutes. It starts slow. In fact I was getting bored and almost fell asleep. But once they lifted off into space it got very interesting. It did have a space odyssey 2001 kind of flavor to it. The effects were great. The plot line was intriguing and kept you guessing as to how it would end. It is not very action packed so if you are looking for a lot of action you will be disappointed. If I had to describe the movie in one word I would say cerebral. Oh and it is the kind of movie you might want to see again. (The Sixth Sense anyone?)

Saw it this morning. Didn’t know it was 3 hours and had to leave early. I was ready for it to be over by 2 hours. I like sci-fi, but this one just was okay for me. My husband told me how they epwrapped up everything, and I don’t think I missed much.

Good acting and visuals.

Saw it Friday, I liked it a great deal. A very good performance by Mr. Matthew McConaughey but mostly average performances by the rest of the cast. I wish the film makers didn’t feel the need to explain the theoretical physics involved and then put a 2001-ish ending on the film. The Hollywood ending aside I felt is was a film of good quality. I didn’t realize it was almost 3 hours long, the time went quickly and I enjoyed every minute.

I liked it a lot. Still somethings that I need to think through or maybe watch a second time but certainly enjoyed the entire movie.

kind of a mind bender movie.

starts slow, i mean “maybe i should walk out” slow. but it builds. eventually it really starts to come together and i can’t say more without spoiling.

if you like space movies, definitely go. you won’t be disappointed.
stick with it.

I just watched it. I liked it, nice story.

Although I'm getting tired of the Environmental angle.
If you have the resources to terraform another planet, then you can "fix" at least some part of Earth too.

They originally launched on a humongous Saturn-class three-stage rocket but when they reached the other galaxy, suddenly their shuttle became capable of single stage to orbit. Several times.
Including landing on and blasting off a planet with 130% of Earth's gravity and peeling away from near a black hole.
Even guessing the Saturn rocket must have been mostly for carrying all the fuel for the rest of the mission, that part stretched plausibility quite a bit.
Not bad for a shoestring secret underground NASA outfit on a depleted world though. And I liked the robots.
