This is the best place to ask that question.

Any chance you had the sinus passage surgically “cleared”? Just asking. There’s good and bad along with it, but I breath at night without a Cpap...wasn’t the case before. Surgical techniques make it easier to recovery fast.

I get my BIPAP locally. Less aggravation if something goes wrong.

Per the post above, I would recommend the bipap over the Cpap...

CPAP.com is excellent. I buy masks there. They do supply insurance forms you can submit for reimbursement

It depends on your medical situation.

I use a CPAP. My brother uses a BiPAP. His wife uses a CPAP.

I had that surgery. Rhinoplasty, they called it. Was nice for a while, but never went off the machine and it grew back.
Had the uvula removal op as well, created an "accoustically correct" throat and amplified my snoring (prior to the machine).
Supplies are local cause I had them stockpiled. But if size and brands are established I don't see why they couldn't be ordered online. Interested in the response here. d:^)

Agree...those folks have all the answers, and it’s a very informed and accepting forum. Have a question, they have the answer.

This is the best CPAP machine out right now: quiet, compact, light weight, automatic pressure adjustment, and drops pressure automatically against each exhalation. Price of $369.00 here includes heated humidifier:

Yeah I have liked what I have seen of that forum.

Just did my first sleep study and found out I have severe apnea and stopped breathing about 86 times/ hour and have to make an appointment for my 2nd to get fitted with a full mask. Should be fun.

Not that I will have much choice in what machine I get since I have Medicaid.

my sleep study showed that I stopped breathing about 120 times and hour.....cpap seems to be working but now going to see if the full mask gives me better sleep than just the nasal....

Ouch...I have an idea of what you went through. Mine was not as dramatic. I had excessive tissue internally that was removed and a sinus passage straightened out. You wouldn’t see it looking at me but I could not breath through one side of my nose. Surgery corrected it and I stopped snoring altogether. My wife LOVED that part.

What I would caution people on is that messing with your sinuses could have an impact on how they drain. If you are subject to allergies the severity of this impact could be problematic. Drainage began to go directly into areas that became easily inflamed resulting in sinus migraines. I have been able to alleviate the issues through homeopathic immunotherapy. This through building up resistance to allergies via orally taken drops.

So while the surgery alleviated one issue it started another. I have a friend who is going through a similar experience so we’ll see how his path works out. I suspect he’ll need to do the same thing I did. My allergy immunotherapy regiment is $30 a month over the counter. So far as I can tell it’s been a 90% reduction in severity over 6 months.

I do not use Cpap or bipap any more but my heart goes out to anyone who needs to... Cheers!

In my sleep study I averaged 93 events an hour. Stopped breathing for 43 seconds a minute. It was so bad, they came in, woke me up and said “we have to put a mask on you right now!”. The 2 hours I slept with the mask was the best sleep I can ever remember having. I woke up and felt like I slept for 8 hours. Amazing. Looking at the graph of all the wires, I was never in REM, except with the mask. It literally saved my life.

That is what happened to me. She came in and put the nasal mask on me about a hour or so after I fell asleep. I still had problems because I guess I breathe with my mouth open sometimes. I didn’t sleep that great. I kept flipping from my back to my left side, which is what I usually do anyways because of my right thigh that has nerve damage and feels like it is on fire.

My oxygen level was low also.

I did feel somewhat better and I didn’t have a headache when I woke up so I hope a full mask will help.

This week I get to do my first IV infusion of iron to try to get my levels up. I am very anemic right now and that didn’t help with my oxygen levels either.
