$17 per day per head is fairly cheap.

These teams have big budgets. The amount of cash in play at these races is amazing.

Actually, yes, for 3 meals per day for over 100 people for 8 days, and considering that they didn’t have anything to start with (pantry goods, seasonings, basics like flour, sugar, oil, etc.). They will save thousands over having the food catered in.

This is pocket change compared to the rest of their budget. I can’t remember who it was but someone was once asked why he sponsored a race team. He replied that he had tried burning the money in his back yard but couldn’t do it fast enough.

Over the course of eight days, Chef Freeman and his kitchen crew of six people will prepare three meals-a-day for more than 100 people.

Eight days by three meals a day by 100 people, that's a total of 2400 meals. For $16K that's pretty good.

How many dozen eggs and pounds of bacon I wonder....

In case you’re wondering why all of the supermarkets in Austin are sold out of cardamom and basmati rice...

I was a fan of F1 back in the 60s and early 70s, but now it has become an obscenely expensive cult and a player in the New World Order where EVERYTTHING is based on $$$$$$$$$$$$.
