On Anderson Cooper 360 last week CNNs Ebola expert David Quammen -- Yale grad, Rhodes scholar -- struck the perfect multicultural note. With the fury of a Puritan divine, he scolded those who want to ban commercial travel to West Africa. How dare we turn our backs on Liberia, said Quammen, given the fact that this is a country that was founded in the 1820s, 1830s because of American slavery. We have a responsibility to stay connected to them and help them see this through.
Quammen was merely saying out loud what the multiculturalists in the Obama administration, the president included, have been thinking: America has become rich by oppressing the people of color. We owe them, even at the cost of American dollars and American lives. In the empty-headed patois of the movement, we must check our privilege.
It is this, the logic of multiculturalism, that has dictated the White House response to the Ebola crisis. That logic, however, doesnt fly with ordinary citizens. So the administration is forced to argue its case in any which way it can. Enter, stage left, the hapless Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention.

if the plague broke out in England like it has in Liberia, I would support the same travel ban from there.
Seems to me they had sufficient time to make their own way in the world.
I actually heard something “new” from a leftist the other day, saying it was a “good thing” that our culture was being diluted.
Never heard why, but it must be that there is something wrong, in their eyes, with our culture.
The truth was hinted at, but not outright stated -
our culture is “too Christian”.
Liberalism is a mental illness.
David Quammen should definitely not turn his back on West Africa. He should go there and die of Ebola in solidarity with the oppressed stone-age morons who live there.
It is a mental disease, spread through government largesse ... and the disease is killing the American Republic, just as the oligarchs planned for it to do.
The president of LIberia condemned Thomas Duncan, said he’d be arrested if he survived and returned to Liberia; was furious that he’d lied on his exit documents, and noted how much help her country has received from the US. Contrast that, if you will, with the POTUS.
Awesome. Wish he was our president.
Oops. She.
Thank you for posting!!! What a revealing article about the CDC’s Friedan!
Under Mr. Quammen’s logic, those people of African origin should never have been allowed to return to Africa.
Given our idiotic response to Ebola, I would support other countries banning flights from the US!
Limbaugh actually predicted that this is what the Left would be saying.
When he travels there to assist will he take his children?
Agreed.
Wow, that really sums it up. I haven’t seen a political cartoon that was much more than bland political correctness for a long time.
