Christians Can’t Accept Houston’s Intimidation Tactics Without Protest
The Federalist ^ | October 16, 2014 | Mollie Hemingway

Support for legalizing same-sex marriage dropped from 54 percent to 49 percent since February, according to a Pew Research Center poll. Analysts said they had no idea why or if it was just a random blip. I joked on Twitter that my April article “Rise of the Same-Sex Marriage Dissidents” probably was the cause.

But in all seriousness, perhaps seeing the totalitarianism of extremist wings of the gay rights movement has soured some people on efforts to change marriage law — or at least given people pause about the tradeoffs involved with redefining marriage or enacting broad legislation around sexual or gender identity. We’ve all seen the stories about lawsuits against small business owners. The boycotts against companies for harboring employees who haven’t jumped on the bandwagon and therefore believe marriage is essentially built around sexual complementarity. The public outrage of enthused mobs believing themselves to be on the right side of history.

As an agnostic, I find the leftist shakedown of Christian Pastors for standing up for the tenets of Christianity ABSOLUTELY APPALLING and downright scary./rwa

I agree. The actions of Houston are beyond the pale. Far beyond the pale.

So now we’re going to have government passing judgement on what clergy preach about from the pulpit?? We’re going to end up giving government veto power over what is preached? Because those are the logical end results of this.

We are on a collision course between religions and secular law.

As homosexual marriage spreads more and more, and as numerous “LGBT civil rights” laws are passed, churches will find themselves at odds with secular law.

Are we on the road to criminalizing religious faiths which teach that homosexuality is a sin??? Clearly such faiths are counter to the secular laws which give new rights to homosexuals. But are we going to criminalize this?? That’s what could happen.

I damn sure wouldn’t subpoena the minutes from a GLAD (Gay Lesbian Advocates Defenders) meeting to find out what they’re saying about consevative Christians. They have the right to free speech (and free thought). Mayor Parker’s actions are clearly an overreach of power and people like her do not need to be in office. if unchecked and unpunished itsets a precedent for tyrants to infringe even further on our constitutional rights.

I think that’s exactly the game plan. Ban all belief systems while the tyrants exercise and establish (which will appear to be diety-less while in fact it is not however they won’t realize it because they have been decieved) their own to keep themselves in power.

As well you should.

Today, they’re going after pastors and churches.

Tomorrow it may be gun rights supporters (”opposing gun control is HATE SPEECH because guns kill people!!!” or it may be people opposed to government handouts (”opposing social justice is racist and HATE SPEECH!!!”).

This may be appalling, but here:

you will find Freepers defending the not only the right, but the OBLIGATION, of Big Government to determine how we live our personal lives.

How do you rape a child and make him or her feel guilty about it?

You tell them they hate.

I don’t think we should accept this with protest either, we should not accept this at all.

Aounds like the BLM free speech zone.

You can speak freely, but in jail and threatened by supervision... And don’t you dare look in our affairs of government, representation is obsolete.

You think beating children until they bleed is okay? I don’t even think he had custody of the kid.

Yes. Canada and Sweden already have. Those are the countries that American leftists admire most.

I agree, I got a wake up call when I saw some of the stuff thrown around about Christians a number of years ago. Hate and bigotry run in a process. One that starts with making threats. At this point the momentum is there to do far worse, in the more obvious sense.

You think Big Government killing millions is OK?

Is that the kind of power you want our government to have here?

Houston’s tubby tinpot gaystapo mayor is already claiming victimhood due to online publicity.

She’ll SWAT those offending churches for pure spite, now.

Where in the world do you get the idea that I think the government should kill millions?

If a man beats a child bloody and the woman, who has custody, wants to press charges, that is not some private family matter.

She’ll SWAT those offending churches for pure spite, now.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

It's time for police officers who are enforcing illegal, unconstitutional, tyrannical orders to begin suffering the consequences for that. The argument that they are "simply follow orders" does not exhonerate them from culpability for their own decision to accede to be part of it.

I wonder how many SWAT team members will continue to play soldier once a few of them end up shot through the head while Swatting innocent people?

Yes and no. Yes, the U.S. is on the road to criminalizing Christianity, in a lot of little, local ways, although probably not at the Federal level. However, Islam will be given an exception, for now. By the time Islam is influential enough to begin executing homosexuals, it will be too late to stop it.
