Witnesses tell The Boston Globe police fired tear gas at hundreds of Keene State College students and others who had been throwing bottles, skateboards and rocks into the crowd. One witness blames heavy alcohol use at earlier parties.
WMUR-TV in Manchester showed footage of a crowd toppling over a car, people running from tear gas clouds and street signs being torn down. Police dressed in riot gear ordered crowds to disperse.
The parties were part of the Keene Pumpkin Festival, where the community tries to set a world record of the largest number of lighted jack-o-lanterns.

Would I be wrong to assume that a lot of families with young children generally attend this festival?
they must be out of their gourds. But not to worry, the police will squash the violence.
“heavy alcohol use”
Ya think?
Oh, come on. Who among us has not caused a melee at a pumpkin festival?
Well played.
This is just the natural reaction resulting from letting people trash and burn because a team (NOT THEY) Won a Championship or Won an ‘important’ game, OR Lost a Championship or Lost an ‘important’ game.
Or let people ‘let off steam’ because they got their panties in a wad over little or nothing, resulting in millions of dollars in damages and widespread looting with the Police virtually acting as ‘Bodyguards’.
Hate to keep bringing up Kent State, BUT the BS in USofA ended when the ‘nervous’ National Guardsman opened fire.
Didn’t hear much about storming campuses or throwing the Dean out of his office once a few people reached room temperature.
SOMETIMES YOU JUST GOTTA DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO!
Pumpkin Festival Mayhem.... why is this so common?
Oh you know those millenials... always getting all excited that Pumpkin Spice Latte season is here.
Well, right and wrong are reversed these days.
The college hierarchy praise such illustrious men as Che Guevara and Mao Tse Tung and then seem baffled when people emulate them.
bump
very true
Holdering?
Heck, look at how they praise people like mike brown, mumia Abu Jamal, “tookie” williams.
They give the bad guys cutsie names and brush their crimes under the rug, in essence defiling the dead victims as if they were garbage.
Sad thing is that this place is about twenty mins away and I hear about it on Free Republic.
Exactly, twenty minutes up the street and I have to discover this on FR! This is the same town where the Parking Meter Mayham ensues where the malevolent parking meter anarchist harass meter maids.
Time to clean my glasses: I thought your post said, “Burp.”
Well, I was involved.
So it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that it could have.
Good point.
Just say, “Excuse me,” afterward.
